I mean one big benefit of solar panels is you can put them on top of existing infrastructure.

Okay those houses look like shit, but I will point out that the ground being all torn up and piles of construction debris being everywhere is pretty normal for mid-development complexes.

I kinda agree. It's a Lib show I won't deny that.

I think Silco is presented as a bit more complex than that though. The guy is brutal, but season one ends with him ALMOST achieving his goal, Jayce agrees to give the Undercity independence with a few reasonable concessions which Silco agrees to uphold. I feel like an even more Lib version of the show would have had him continue to escalate the conflict our of stubbornness and hate, but not he has a clear goal, pursues it without compromise, and seems happy to end the conflict when his goal is reached. I've known a surprising number of Libs who actually sympathize with the character, so I'd argue his writing is pretty effective.

After he gets called a "democracy activist" by someone and tells them off for assuming he wanted to "create something as decedent as western liberalism".

How do people tolerate this???

Don't get me wrong, there's some Lib shit in it too, particularly with it's representation of the conflict between Iran and Israel, but even with that I was surprised the Iranian character was presented more sympathetically than the Israeli one, also there's a kinda sympathetic Chinese communist character.

Honestly it has a lot of flaws, both narrative wise, idealistically and technical but I still liked it a lot and had an ending that, without spoiling too much, is just straight up Russian Cosmism, so much so I'm curious of the original author of the short stories is familiar with the concept.
