Germany should have been turned into Israel because then Germany would also be a fake country instead of an unfortunately real existing one.

This is more cringe than Steven Colbert with Skibidi Biden

What use does a CS class have for Discord? Shouldn't they have you using Microsoft Teams or Slack so you get accustomed to the garbage your future office will be on?

The feds had Justin King dead to rights on it too, but for some reason they decided to just let him off with a slap on the wrist and let him keep over a million dollars worth of his ill-gotten gains. After that, I think he did some military and police contracting work before inventing his phony "Beau" character. He's either a fed or a grifter.

It must stem from the way that buying expensive software/games is normalized for computers and consoles, but still unusual for phones. I don't really know why that is.

So 20-30 years from now there's going to be a big resurgence of retro Evony-likes?

[-] Roonerino@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

Yeah. Frankly I think it's a little weird that anyone would get so invested in reading the little comics printed on the toilet paper that they'd read them anywhere else.

A loaf of bread. They're big fans of bread. But real bread not grocery store shit.

As far as I know, modern games use a lot of third party assets for crates and barrels and rocks (like Quixel and stuff) and even libraries of materials used for creating composite textures (like in Substance which I think is an Adobe thing now). So there's a lot of libraries for high quality resources locked behind enterprise grade paywalls.

As for ray tracing...ray traced global illumination, as I understand it, is very expensive but kind of has a fixed cost, and increasing the complexity of the scene doesn't really increase the cost of calculating the lighting past the baseline until you crank up the number of samples or number of bounces. Also, it saves a fair bit of work because if you can fully commit to RTGI, it's all physically based and behaves realistically and you don't have to do weird hacks and tricks anymore to try to fake realistic lighting.

Even though HL2 does look a bit dated, comparing with it's contemporary Doom 3 is also a good example.

Did you ever play any multiplayer PC shooters before, like, 2005? I'm guessing not because you seem to think this is about good players wanting to stop bad players all day.

I've never been better than average at CS 1.5, but it was fine because everyone was just playing games for fun where nothing mattered, there wasn't even any kind of persistent stat tracking. People weren't constantly at your fucking throat because your non-meta playstyle was hurting their personal rank and costing them battle pass points or whatever the fuck. Sometimes a really good player would join and you'd fuck around doing some guerilla warfare for a bit trying to catch the AWP god off guard until he got bored and left. And if your team went 0-10 it didn't really matter because when the map changed the score number was reset and had no effect on anything, anywhere.

I dislike every multiplayer FPS game I've played since TF2 specifically because I'm a bad casual and with SBMM and ranked modes becoming the default there's no room left for people who just want to chill out and play a game without studying metagames and strategies and other sweaty tryhard bullshit because even at the lowest levels your teammates will take personal offense to anything less than perfection and will go above and beyond to make your game as miserable as possible as retribution for your crimes.

I swear I thought I was posting a mildly funny meme that nobody would care about I wasn't trying to start matchmaking discourse. I'm just old and I like to take pot shots at anything newer than 2006.

Edit: it's a meme y'all, chill out. The original was "stop doing math", it's not supposed to be serious.
