For me, driving. Its not that driving is difficult or i'm just not able to drive. Its that there are just too many awful drivers and pedestrians you have to care about on the road.

In addition, the German sector's competitiveness has deteriorated in some areas, especially in comparison with Asia.

Now, if the GHF’s Gaza debut is any indication, the militarised distribution of food will continue to provide opportunities for mass killing as crowds of starving Palestinians gather around aid hubs. The phrase “shooting fish in a barrel” comes to mind – as if the Gaza Strip weren’t enough of a barrel already.

To be sure, the idea of luring starving people to specific geographical points to facilitate Israel’s genocidal conquest is singularly diabolical. And as the US persists in enabling Israel’s fish-in-a-barrel approach, any remotely moral world would refuse to stomach the arrangement any longer.

Generative AI comes in many forms. Increasingly, though, it’s marketed the same way: with human names and personas that make it feel less like code and more like a co-worker. A growing number of startups are anthropomorphizing AI to build trust fast — and soften its threat to human jobs. It’s dehumanizing, and it’s accelerating.

As scientists who study how vegetation ignites and burns, we recognize that well-maintained plants and trees can actually help protect homes from wind-blown embers and slow the spread of fire in some cases. So, we are concerned about new wildfire protection regulations being developed by the state of California that would prohibit almost all plants and other combustible material within 5 feet of homes, an area known as “Zone 0.”

While EU imports of Russian fossil fuels have more than halved in monetary value since Moscow invaded Ukraine in February 2022, "the EU remains the largest importer of Russian fossil fuels", according to Russia Fossil Tracker, a project run by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) think tank.

#How is the EU still buying fossil fuels from Russia?

CREA estimates that the volume of Russian gas piped to Europe via Turkey rose by 26.77% in January and February 2025 compared with the same period last year, said the BBC. Hungary and Slovakia, who are sympathetic to Moscow, continue to receive Russian gas.

Not a huge fan of their logo unless it's just meant to be an ironic version of the three arrows with trumpets..but with the whole "commune" part I'm not quite sure.

Still, I can't knock their music or the lyrics; good stuff.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa is once again under fire after controversial remarks about a "shared enemy" between Syria and Israel sparked a wave of criticism and speculation across the Arab world about the future of relations between the two countries.

When asked about the future of Syrian-Israeli relations, al-Sharaa said "The era of endless tit-for-tat bombings must end. No nation prospers when its skies are filled with fear. The reality is, we have common enemies – and we can play a major role in regional security."

His comments struck a chord with some, while fueling controversy and debate throughout the region. A Palestinian social media activist residing in France, Mais al-Qinawie wrote on X that al-Sharaa's statements can only be understood in the context of "preparing for a war on Lebanon – one in which his [al-Sharaa's] forces would serve as ground partners to the Israeli army."

In a separate post, he wrote, "I've never heard of a head of state – Muslim or not – speak so warmly and conciliatory about a country that occupies his land, violates his sovereignty, and bombs his infrastructure. It's not just bizarre; it's downright repulsive."

The new mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Sunday proposed a $100m private trust as part of a reparations plan to give descendants of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre scholarships and housing help in a city-backed bid to make amends for one of the worst racial attacks in US history.

The plan by Monroe Nichols, the first Black mayor of Oklahoma’s second-largest city, would not provide direct cash payments to descendants or the last two centenarian survivors of the attack that killed as many as 300 Black people. He made the announcement at the Greenwood Cultural Center, located in the once-thriving district of North Tulsa that was destroyed by a white mob.

Nichols said he does not use the term reparations, which he calls politically charged, characterizing his sweeping plan instead as a “road to repair”.

I’m 18 & Danish so I’m not that well versed in politics in general, let alone US politics; recently I’ve made a new online friend & his dad is a senator. I’ve Googled but it’s still not fully clear to me what they’re role actually is in practice, and I’m not about to dissect my friend’s dad’s job with him cause that’s a bit weird. From what I’ve seen by being on Lemmy this past month there’s a big number of Americans and people who know politics, so why not ask on here.
