yeah this is def just some stenography for whoever talked to this 'journalist' to signal to their industry (finance) that this wasn't their idea, so that they can get a job after this administration

in brazil, we were about to pass regulation requiring much more transparency from us big tech.

they essentially just said no, and it didn't.
