We really don't know much about their situation as a whole. For all we know, Amber wanted out of the spotlight and still works on the show in the background.

For how many people who have a parasocial relationship with their favorite podcasters, I feel like that harsh message is necessary. Regardless of how much we hear from Amber, she's probably still closer to them than any listener could hope to be. To them there is a clear line between their friends and family and weirdos who listen. Sure Amber is mean, but she's also right. Anyone learning about Matt's condition from the fucking soundcloud is probably not in that family.
