It's the dunk tank.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again
Alright, maybe the good people of hexbear can help me with this.
I've been reading/hearing for years how people consuming shit media won't listen to the critics and just enjoy it. Scathing yet honest criticism will come with the notion that the thing isn't worth consuming, implicit or explicit. Are there really people going above and beyond to try to make people feel bad for the media they consume?
Media consumption as a personal identity is a fuck
Wait, you're saying that some individuals begin to identify with the kind of consumption they engage in?
This is an old example, but I keep it around for reference purposes. Some of the posts in it are now deleted, but I directly quoted them within that thread so you can see examples of someone identifying with the consumption they engage in to the point of wishing death and suffering upon critics of the treat (or how the treat is produced):

Gamers are the modern archetype of media-consumption-driven Identity
They sure are.
They're trampled by the very same treat corporations that they volunteer to defend, only getting mad at supposed "woke" gestures while just accepting predatory monetization and cheaper and flimsier "live service" trash.
I'm sure there are some people doing that. I enjoy talking about movies, music, tv, etc and sharing my opinions on what I think is good or bad and why. Sometimes people take opinions as attacks, especially if they're big fans of something.
