i saw a lot of nerds on twitter saying "if ethan thought it actually was childporn he would be reporting vaush to the police, not telling his audience about it "
which, is very interesting to me. they think police = the only moral arbiters, and that people should not talk about crimes with other people who aren't the moral arbiters?
I mean people with the evidence should report him to the police anyways. It's pretty serious when you combine it with all the other shit he says.
Also who is to say that the H3 guy hasn't contacted the authorities as of now?
agreed, i really hope he has. it's just a really weird "gotcha" from vaushites
~~IANAL but I don't think anything shown is illegal in America (V*ush is in San Fran, right?), where the relevant law requires that the image look realistic to be considered CSAM.~~
edit: hmm looks like it has been prosecuted before under the PROTECT act of 2003, but it doesn't seem like settled case law to me since the person who got got was charged with obscenity and not possessing CSAM, which is a different thing. Still if you took this kind of stuff to the Circuit or Supreme courts I have a feeling that they wouldn't be too eager to protect it.
yea i wasn't sure if it was actually illegal or not in america when i was reading that sorta thing. which is kinda my point, it doesn't really matter if it's illegal because it's still child porn.
