I think lemmy having libs is beneficial to us, because they are systemically in an uphill position in an instance mainly moderated by communists. The real engine of bad takes are from the "mutuals" we have with lemmy like .world and co. I think strategically the best option is to go after instances that aren't federated with us rather than those that are. I don't think there's any benefit to letting red scare instances fester, and r/cth demonstrated how easy it is to cow rightists.

What I think is fascinating is the handful of people posting leftist memes to .world. Feels like lemmy has a critical mass of leftists that even when you try to make an extremely liberal space it still spills in

The question then, I suppose, is how many of those leftists are like us and how many are "Compatible Leftists" that are fundamentally non-threatening to liberals. Liberals typically love Chomsky types that let them feel like they engage in radical discourse while fundamentally failing to challenge power.
