I've had the misfortune of compiling hyprland and then running it only to be jumpscared by uwu anime girl mascot while my friend was watching after I had told them how cool Linux was.
There was a bug for a while where it would randomly show the girl when fulldcreening windows. Totally a needed feature.
idk, being able to download some software, compile it yourself, point at it and say "ah, this was made by a fascist" and then use something different, hits in a way on linux that windows and mac just can't offer.
