The number of Americans who adhered to the British side after fighting commenced is still debated. An American historian has estimated that about 450,000 Americans remained loyal to Britain during the Revolution.

100% chance of some Americans, not a 100% chance of 100% of Americans. No one gets 100% of Americans to anything.

For context the population of the colonies was about 2.5 million, so around 1/4 were loyalists
