I read through twice, but unless I missed an instance— "Negro" is not the N-word.
It is a dated slur. It is one of the forms of the N-word.
The Chinese didn’t mean it as a slur back then since it was a common word to refer to black people, but nowadays, it is a slur.
Important context here is that it was not considered a slur at the time.
