Thailand, i had a great time in the hot tub, but the reduction of labor protections from "bare minimum" to "barest minimum" is not enough. Therefore, I am sorry but my rose goes to SLAVELAND.

i have six beautiful countries standing before me, but only one can become America's next top trading partner trump-anguish

hate to say it but Trump is not beating the great khan allegations, all nations of the world must bring him tribute

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 27 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I don't know why they haven't stumbled into the idea of tributary nations. Sure that's already indirectly a thing. But you can't tell me it doesn't appeal to Trump to demand protection money directly.

[–] determinism2@hexbear.net 26 points 1 day ago

The tributary countries are all being accused of having trade surpluses against the US.

every ambassador to the US is probably scrambling to order valuable gifts to personally bestow before these meetings

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

That would be absolutely hilarious if the US came crashing down because Trump got 47 Ronin'd.

That's what NATO is and the whole point of letting Europe bear the weight of the war in Ukraine is to make them pay for America's war.

Sure that's already indirectly a thing

The point is not that the US isn't extracting value from their client state, the point is that current US leadership is venal enough that they would desire a direct extraction of species.

Fair, but in my mind if we can consider a tax credit a form of government spending, getting someone else to pay for something you were doing is basically getting them to pay you.

Basically

see there you go. Remember we are dealing with a ruling class who think getting industrial goods in return for an IOU is a rip off on behalf of the IOU writer. There is a layer of obfuscation between the money and the American government and that is why they're mad currently. I am saying it is odd that they have not discovered that they can just ask for money directly by means of threats.

The Great Khan but all the conquest was done already

How very Amerikkkan

[–] kittin@hexbear.net 33 points 1 day ago

China should invite all 18 to a competing conference at the same time.

China should launch the TPP without the US.

He’s finally running the country like a business!

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago

Well it looks like Yanis was at least somewhat correct about Trump's plan to try to cause chaos then negotiate with all the other countries with the upper hand — although he was saying Trump would isolate the countries to negotiate 1 on 1.

[–] frogbellyratbone_@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago

mom said it's my turn to negotiate with trump

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

Shouldn't it be on a daily rotation rather than weekly? By the time the two weeks in between have passed, the US policy will have changed like five times.
