Damn, this was a record for me.

It was a rally and march for Palestine at the city nearby.

@Othello@hexbear.net might know about it, but I don't think they're here now (I'm just tagging in case they are).

Ask me about it if you want, but right now I'm "venting" about something positive; I'm really proud of myself for keeping up the pressure regarding Gaza and helping to do that.

Definitely join an org or activist group if you can.

That's all. Cheers!

Cringe, you could've been posting instead and done some actual communist work.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 22 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Oh God, I actually couldn't tell if this was a joke or not.

Probably because, on social media, especially on Twitter, I see a lot weird comments every day and it's hard to tell fact from fiction, so to speak.

It’s Hexbear. We can assume the best here.

I went to one in my city today. It felt good to be out there. LOTS of support from passing motorists.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 20 points 8 months ago

One person kept honking their car to the beat of the tune we were playing.

Yeah, good that you were out there, comrade.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 7 points 8 months ago

Yeah same, lots of support from people driving through town

YUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I partly post this to get others excited and join local actions near them.

And, of course, don't just protest (I mean, the best activists are the ones that can put variety in their work).

But I mean, even a little bit counts, even one thing counts, I'm just talking about if you're apart of an org and do this sort-of thing a lot.

Did Hexbears actually meet up in person‽

What if we kissed at the Palestine rally soviet-bottom

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 4 points 8 months ago

Eh, we could.

But I'd rather keep myself anonymous.

Wish the one I went to lasted longer, we were only out there for an hour and a half

Didn't even march cheems

Should've driven an hour to the bigger PSL protest but I had to work today and this was easier sicko-wistful

At least I'm going to another local action tomorrow bloomer

Good luck today!

Proud of you comrade. It's tough getting out there especially when it feels so hopeless but it matters and it's important to do.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 10 points 8 months ago

Yeah, it is tough. I was there since 12:00 at noon.

We did a march and, of course, I was loud in the rally beforehand, but it felt worth it and there were a lot of people (which is always good) and lots of consciousness-raising statements and conversations, I felt.

What was the best part? The weirdest part? Was it scary? Thanks for going!!!!

The 7 zionist counterprotesters were pathetic but that just made them entertaining to me

One of the 2 guys a lady next to me identified as local proud boys had a tiny isntrael flag so I pointed at his tiny flag then made a gesture with my fingers indicating how small his flag is before flourishing my large palestine-heart flag and that seemed to piss him off jetstream-troll

Changed the title a bit to be more accurate!

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

About three for me they're still giving speeches

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, they do that sometimes.

We could've started the march early, but dammit, they, err, love their speeches.

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Some were legitimately good, people with actual family in Palestine. It makes showing up to protest feel less pointless when you hear how hopeful it makes them to see a strong showing.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 7 points 8 months ago

Yeah, I have a friend in Palestine as well, though of course, he's not directly in Gaza.

I think this is all apart of movement-building as well and sometimes marching in the streets is how you accumulate more people to your movement.

Hell, people pass out flyers and join an org afterwards; I've seen the convos that sometimes happen.

That's awesome! I checked the resources that were being passed around on protests all over the world and it looks like there were none in my area this time. Shame, I went to one some time ago and there was a good turnout, including some people from a local socialist party.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 8 points 8 months ago

We have a strong PSL presence in D.C., at least during protests, and one of 'em spoke at the rally before the march, though I think some are bussed in from other areas (which is fine, I'm just assessing how big they are in the DMV).

Me and my friends were representing CPUSA, though not everyone came in their uniform.

That’s great! I saw people heading to a protest for Palestine on my way home from work today. Was really proud of them. I just wish the protest was advertised somewhere besides Instagram and Facebook since i don’t do social media. Oh well, i’ve put in tens of thousands of hours doing IRL organizing so whatever.

I also saw some graffiti that said ‘aaron bushnell not complicit’ That was pretty powerful.

Thanks for getting out there!

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 4 points 8 months ago

A lot of graffiti and stickers on lamp-posts where I was at.
