https://www.salon.com/2024/04/06/dwayne-the-rock-johnson-raises-eyebrows-after-saying-he-regrets-endorsing-biden-in-2020/

Speaking to host Will Cain, Johnson revealed that he's not happy with the state of America right now, highlighting "wokeness" and "cancel culture" as contributing to a division in the country that really bugs him.

“I’m not a politician. I’m not into politics," he says. "I care deeply about our country. I’m a patriot, and I believe you are too, as well. And right now, my desire and my priorities are my babies and school drop-offs and pickups — that’s important to me."

He is running.

Dwayne Johnson has been showing back up in WWE events, and I do get the sense that he's tapped out on the Disney end of the money funnel. With all that Saudi cash flowing into combat sports and with Vince McMahon getting dragged out back like the rabid dog he is, I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson springboards from Vince's old position to a political campaign, with his eyes on the White House.

Gotta distance himself from the wildly unpopular current liberal President if you're even going to begin that transition.

This lines up with the most hilariously bullshit video I've ever seen of him fishing and landing a huge, very obviously dead fish that unfortunately was all juuuuust off camera until it was in his hands.

He's pandering to real Americans, and by real Americans I mean the dumbest 20% of your high school class.

And I'm pretty damn sure he's doing it because he doesn't like the idea of having his fortune taxed so he's ingratiating himself with the "right" to help them politically so he and those like him can enjoy even more tax breaks.

So many of these "oh man I made a mistake" famous voters just so happen to also be really wealthy.

[–] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 36 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Nah, Biden has done nothing but tax breaks for the wealthy, this is an ego trip, pure and simple.

I think he's doing it because his financial advisors ran some numbers and figured out the conservative social media grift pays more than the alternatives.

I once saw The Rock described as "a less embarrassing Steven Seagal" and I'm really coming around to that description.

[–] Hurvitz@hexbear.net 29 points 7 months ago (1 children)

soon to be more embarassing

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 43 points 7 months ago (1 children)

No Steven Seagal really can't be topped

Good on him for speaking out against the genocide - was my thought initially.

the way normies talk about politics is just so stupid, I don't even know how to talk to them. I was listening to two people in my class talk the other day and they were saying "I hate how divisive politics is these days, it's like team sports. why can't they all just come together to do stuff? we just need more choices! Trump shouldn't be running because he's a criminal, I love Nikki Haley they should have run her instead!"

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 32 points 7 months ago

we just need more choices!

Well I've got a choice for them! mao-wave

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 30 points 7 months ago (3 children)

This is always hilarious to hear because when they do come together to get stuff done we get stuff like the patriot act, end of net neutrality, and more private prisons.

Turns out not even being able to articulate a political agenda is a shortcoming and you dont want politicians just doing things for the sake of it.

Also libs talking about Hailey like she's a moderate compared to Trump is a really strong argument that not everybody should have the right to vote. They have the exact same agenda but Hailey will actually pursue it for 5 minutes before getting bored and spending the afternoon coming up with a new way to grift the base.

Kinda weird, while I never thought he had any leftist tendencies, he seemed to speak out against toxic masculinity, the idea that men can’t be vulnerable. Wonder what exactly he’s thinking of with “cancel culture” and “wokeness.”

For all that I hear about wokeness, I don't think I've seen any wokeness besides brown people being cast in movies and shows I don't watch. However, I have seen 10,000 people moan and moan about wokeness. I don't even know my toaster's gender?! Did you just assume my gender?! Bold of you to assume I'm a man! But I've never encountered the screaming banshees they hate. I had a friend with an ex who was she/they and a bat out of hell. That's really it though

Do people even still get cancelled? Last one that comes to mind was that god awful Sonic render and every month Jamflex does something to Runescape people don't like

[–] SSJ2Marx@hexbear.net 34 points 7 months ago

Cancellations still happen, but all of the recent ones have been Palestinian journalists getting cancelled by idf-cool

The bit about "wokeness" and "cancel culture" is a bit surprising to me, since I always figured his politics were closer to generic liberalism.

He's a Saudi bitch. Rakes in millions from Saudi funding. Cancel culture? Ever seen Saudi cancel culture? gui-better or how Saudis chop journalists who expose them up? Or how they did a genocide against Yemen with US suport?

The crap is he crying about wokeness when he's freaking Maui? He was literally a diversity hire.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 38 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (6 children)

He was literally a diversity hire

The Rock was more of a nepotism hire as was his initial push as Rocky Maivia. His family had a long history with the WWF. The fans hated him at first for that reason. That's why he turned heel and became the Rock and got over

Anyone who knows anything about this guy is probably aware of how much of a gigantic drifter he is lol.

The guy is a walking billboard. He will say and/or do anything for money.

Man the WWE is really turning out the right-wing crank politicians, first Jesse, then Trump, now the rock. The only good superstar is John Cena

you're forgetting Kane, mayor of Fort Knox. And there's more than just that as for right wing WWE guys attempting a political turn.

Jesse Ventura is a cut above most of those chumps. He wrote a book called Rebloodlicans Vs Democrips, criticising the 2 party form of government. Pro weed, anti CIA, still mad as fuck about the gulf of tonkin. He's a bit of a 9/11 conspiracy libertarian loon but he's definitely not bankrolled by anyone. And he has beef with Chris Kyle.

You should watch his interview with Piers Morgan. He annihilates him. Practically cuts a wrestling promo on the invasion of Iraq iirc.

Edit: He's now referring to Biden Vs Trump as 'Grift-A-Mania' https://jesseventura.substack.com/p/grift-a-mania-is-upon-us?r=6g9g&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&triedRedirect=true

Jesse THE BODY Ventura is the only good libertarian and we will allow him to exist after the revolution. Seems like the kinda guy who is only a libertarian because he grew up in the US surrounded by red scare brainworms. He tried to unionize the WWE. He wanted to meet Fidel. He was against the Iraq war.

This bit he did on that sniper guy is kinda what exemplifies why I like him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPm5KZZMbds Should he mention the racism and fascism and so on? Yeah, but I honestly don't think he knows or comprehends that. But whilst not understanding those things, he still understands that it's fucked up to glorify some yankee chud who shot women and children in a foreign country.

DISCLAIMER I haven't followed him since he talked about wanting to meet Fidel Castro. If he's done something really bad in modern time, then don't tell me.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, a former professional wrestler and modern-day movie star, underwent male breast reduction in 2005 due to gynecomastia, which is the development of fatty tissues in the chest or breasts of male patients.

i am eagerly waiting his take on gender affirming care all-ears

Looks like ol' Dwaynie Boi is starting to realize that he's washed up as a celebrity and has to start screeching about "the woke cancel culture left" to maintain relevance!

Eww, The Rock is anti-woke? Sad, I thought he was cool. Yeah, sure Dwayne, it's the woke cancel culture that is the problem and not the rabid capitalism starving people in the streets.

Dumbass

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 23 points 7 months ago

The Rock has been pretty openly friends with Jeff Bezos for a while.
