Worst thing about it is that this occurs in all social media - Lemmy ain't an exception.

I made a post asking how to not get insta-banned by the hive conscious moderator here or offend anyone and was merely told to "get good at posting".

I refuse to get better at posting. Only when I am not afraid of getting banned will I excel at posting.

[–] SpanishSpaceAgency@hexbear.net 25 points 5 months ago

just post in c/badposting. easy as.

I don’t get it. You seem to have learned your lesson. It worked.

Taking fewer risks because you feel less secure is the most basic idea. You ever walked carefully on ice? Driven slower because of bad weather? Thought twice before writing an answer on an important test? Engaged in banal small talk because your boss is talking to you? Checked for your keys before locking a door? Mistrusted a fart because you've been shidding out of your doodoo ass from a gas station burrito?

Congratulations. You used your brain instead of "getting gud."

A lot of sanctioned countries also don’t overthrow their governments like the US hopes for because desperation doesn’t always look like someone picking up a gun and going to war for epic democracy. Sometimes that desperation is just keeping your head down to receive the next meal.

Obviously the answer is to increase sanctions and fund right wing terrorism. Eventually the people will get desperate enough to do what the CIA wants.

A flow chart where all the paths lead to a box that says “more fascism”

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 9 points 5 months ago

It's like one of those "recycling here, trash here" cans with nothing dividing the actual contents but it's money going to the fascism pile

When the hustle culture brainworms are terminal

Kindling a fire is for the weak that need safe spaces. Just beat the game without any equipment or help or leveling up or blah-blah-blah...

porky-happy: “The secret to my success? Oh, I just networked and my uncle hired me after college. Then after that all my previous rich friends gave me a whole bunch of gifts for starting a business! It’s who you know, bro!”

You’d think after every ten seconds where some rich guy admits he’s a nepo baby, the great man myth would be dead.

i did it all myself through working harder than anyone else ever did

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 2 points 5 months ago

it kind of is now that you can go online and see every "selfbootstrapped" (m/b)illionaire is a giant entitled baby

On the bright side, it is heartening to see Iwata's influence and decency still influencing devs today

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 19 points 5 months ago

Didn't Iwata say that when he cut his own salary to keep them working?

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 18 points 5 months ago

The fear of being fired in this case can be described metaphorically as a "poisoned swamp" preventing people from progressing in their path
