They are weird tho, I don’t care
Nah.
It was still homophobic with Putin because it was using queerness as a personal attack. It changed nothing, it was just homophobia.
The "weird" that liberals are using is not the same as the "weird" that conservatives use. The weird conservatives use explicitly targets marginalised people, whereas the weird that liberals are using explicitly targets those who obsess over and attack marginalised peoples.
It's shifting every group that conservatives have traditionally marginalised into "normal". And that is good.
While doing this, it is also moving conservatives into the position of the marginalised. That is also good.
It should not be criticised. The right will be deeply discomforted by this as they are ultra conformists. If you make them uncomfortable enough they will triangulate themselves into a new position to feel "normal" within society.
I think the unfortunate reason "weird" hurts them so much is because of that exact association with the kind of weirdos we love here
Either way, instead of this nebulous "weird" I've just been directly calling them fucking pedos for wanting to know about my kids' junk, been doing that for years and I'm not about to stop now
I shall not be shamed for masturbating to tentacle monster hentai, you’re weird for saying it’s weird. I SHAME YOU! YOURE THE WEIRD ONE!
:speech-r: :gigachad:
"JD Vance is weird, like those hexbears"
"Hmph." - Hexbear
they'll call anti-genocide Gaza protesters "weird."
So what? The reason they do it with conservatives is because they shit their pants over it. There’s nothing weird about being against genocide, so why should I care if they call me that?
There’s no “conservative homosexuality” and “progressive homosexuality” unless it’s class related. Meanwhile, weirdness is not exclusive to lonely gay weeaboo emos. People here posting about piss and shit are weird, but the people drawing wojaks pissing and shitting in each other’s mouths on 4chan as political commentary are even weirder.
Saying Putin and Trump are gay lovers is weaponizing something irrelevant because it has no factual basis, and even if it did, liberals would still be bigoted (If they were gay lovers, them simply being lovers should be the primary concern because that’s a conflict of interest). It’s no different than calling someone “weird” for being against genocide - no factual basis. But calling someone weird for being obsessed with children’s genitals, marching in Dallas to await the second coming of RFK, and having muscular trump flags is simply reality. You’re literally stating a basic observation. How else would you describe this behavior?
you may be thinking too hard about this. time to
When they find an acceptable slur to use, they will use it. Part of being a liberal ghoul. They wish they could be vocal bigots like the conservatives they admire.
Nobody admires conservatives.
Then why don't more liberals call out their racist relatives? Why do Democratic politicians speak fondly of John McCain as one of the good Republicans?
A lot of liberals like conservatives and want them to see the world their way. They think conservatives are misguided but redeemable.
Because for a lot of people, “calling out” their conservative family members means ostracism, and not just socially either. You can be kicked out your home, cut financially, lose employment, and so on.
While liberals and conservatives in the US are barely different, I imagine many people here will also keep their heads down if they can because most of us aren’t willing to voluntarily become homeless or isolated.
I'd hoped i wouldn't have to make an exception for safety, but yes, if you have to survive by saying nothing when someone says bigoted shit, that's your business.
But people look the other way when safety isn't at stake. I don't want anybody to be homeless because of me, but I would hope that someone who believes in solidarity would risk some social standing when someone starts dropping slurs.
Call them out? What's the point?
You can't use logic to get somebody out of a position that they didn't use logic to get themselves into.
Irredeemable dunces, the lot of them.
Calling them out makes them think twice about whether or not it's worth putting their reactionary thoughts out into the world, It also makes it less likely for uninformed others to silently agree with unchallenged racist nonsense.
It's not about their education, it's about refusing to give them ground to be shitty. It's about being serious as an advocate.
But what about my second question? Why are conservatives like Liz Cheney or Mitt Romney getting treated like heroic politicians by blue voters?
There is a level of respect that liberals have for conservatives in the US.
American libs love neocons now.
you ever been on reddit when someone posts that picture of michelle obama with george w bush
Nowhere in either of those posts does anyone mention liking or even respecting conservatives. If anything, she's calling them weak and wishing they weren't.
This is the stupidest conceivable read of my response imaginable
Like honestly, there's no way you naturally came to this conclusion, you had to have intentionally failed to comprehend
As someone who's in education, I do use "that's weird" or "be cool, man" as a way to warn bullies to cut it out. If you tell them "that's mean" they love that shit.
As a teacher I'm obviously not allowed to call a bully a "fucking lib" so that's the best I got.
Idk, I can kinda see the sinister part if I really squint hard, but being a maga-brain is fucking weird and should be socially unacceptable. Getting that discourse into the mainstream is good even if the ghouls are also saying it.
Libs are set to run too far on the "weird" thing and all without having the introspection to not be weird themselves. Their greatest sycophants are ready to wear what could've been their greatest weapon down to nothing.
We're getting to the point where it's just going to be problematic to insult anyone at all.
Knowing that my Blue MAGA parents who emotionally abused me for my neurodivergence are probably eating up this discourse, yeah it definitely bothers me too. Like, yeah all these bourgeois politicians are disgusting and disconnected from reality, but "weird" is too often an ableist epithet for me to be comfortable with how its being used. Also the fact that Dems are just as "weird" as Republicans makes it doubly annoying.
It's not as bad as that was, but yeah, I get what you mean. Democrats are going through overreach by making themselves into the party of the normal establishment against the weird outsiders.
“There are plants in the sink. How weird!”
Libs are for some reason really horny for Putin
This is why Rump congratulated Putin on the returned hostages?
Rump
Libs are also for some reason really horny for Trump
the most troubling thing about J.D. Vance is that he's extremely normal. he's a phony self-serving duplicitous sociopathic bigot, and the average American male has some if not all of those traits
I like weird. J.D. Vance isn't weird
You’re kind of weird
Like I see some ppl saying that they are "taking back" the "weird" thing
TBH I thought millennials already did something like "take back" "weird" over a decade ago, but I haven't seen anyone mention that yet.
Nah
