it's a hack bit at this point to point out how unappetizing most industrially processed food is, let alone industrial processed animal products are that are only available for consumers when completely finished/heated.

but i stg, the mcrib takes this to a completely new level or is the Ur-example or whatever. something about the fake bone mold and the cool/cold color of the congealed fat (it looks like the product is less than 10% meat, the rest being binders etc) makes it looks like some kind of building material or shoe rubber. cooking food absolutely changes its appearance under any circumstance (i.e. maillard reaction) and the adding of liquids, etc, but raw food should somewhat resemble cooked food in some way besides finished shape. i don't think they could sell raw mcribs at the grocery story, because they are so damn unappealing and give-away-the-game of being a weird reconstituted material. i would like to see the "guaranteed analysis" they do for pet food on the mcrib patty for fat/protein/other because i bet it's super weird even compared to pet food.
