You'll love the rest of the novels then, their titles are excellent. Annihilation, Authority, then Acceptance.

Reminds me of Threshold, an I think it was CBS creepy scifi series that ended too soon; it was supposed to be followed by Foothold and Stranglehold. The name of the first two episodes, Trees Made of Glass, has stuck with me.

The show had this creepiness to it that was pretty cool.

Oh god, reading through the episode synopses and it reminds me of this insane ass novel, Three Hundred Million by Blake Butler.
