Joe Simps for the D biden-horror : CPUSA co-chair Sims: Fighting fascist threat a top priority Peoples world Article

Excerpts:

CHICAGO – “The battle lines are clear. We’re fighting a fascist danger at home and a genocidal war abroad. And to defeat the danger at home, we’ve got to defeat the war abroad.” CPUSA co-chair Joe Sims gave this warning on June 7, as he keynoted the 32nd National Convention of the Communist Party USA.

Sims also spoke of the “raw racism at the very heart of MAGA,” and added, “Immigrants are a special target.

“First, they tried the wall,” Sims said of Trump’s scheme to keep migrants from entering the U.S. across the Mexican border. “Then the Muslim ban, now they’re planning concentration camps. That’s right, we said it. And if they come for immigrants in the morning, they’re damn sure coming for us at noon.

But we’re not at fascism yet, of course, Sims said. And that moment of respite – for however long it lasts – means that for now, “There is room for struggle. Let us use that space to fight for a ceasefire in Gaza and for an end to the war in Ukraine. Let us use it to stop the expansion of NATO, end the blockade of Cuba, and bring the Cold War against China to a close.

He then turned to the historic question the Communist movement has always asked, “What, then, is to be done?”

you are not him dennis-stare

As Sims spoke to wild peals of applause, he said, “On the one side, there’s the ruling class forces of white supremacy and MAGA pulling the country apart. On the other, there’s the working-class forces of democracy pulling the country together.”

In which the CPI blames Hamas for the Gaza war, denounces the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood (i guess palestinians just have to get used to dying) and washes the hands of the israeli state by claiming that its netanyahoo the problem and not the State of ISSael itself

I really hope that others will give the CPUSA a chance and I may be able to answer some questions within good faith.

I understand that the community here is very anti-CPUSA and I hope that I can sway some people to help understand the org better.

Thanks!

CPUSA has a lot of baggage compared with PSL or FRSO which plays into the distaste I think. If it's the only option in someone's area then it's better than not being organized, but it's hard to understand why they'd be a committed communist's first choice given their endorsements and campaigning for Biden

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Well, they weren't my first choice, but I'm glad that I stuck with them all these years.

[–] MattsAlt@hexbear.net 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That's fair and I think individual chapters and the relationships with members you organize with will be invaluable even if hexbear and other communists disagree with how leadership acts

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I agree with how the leadership acts. There is no real rift between the membership and the leadership, though we do have disagreements here and there.

I don't mind you taking the time to chat with me, but you must understand: I'm pretty much here because of the Nat'l Committee.

i thought you were just trolling but sadly you don't seem to be

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago

I joined the org for a reason, comrade. I'm sorry you're disappointed. I don't mean to offend.

[–] jack@hexbear.net 13 points 5 months ago (1 children)

So do you think communists should vote for Biden? Is that the position of the organization?

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)
[–] jack@hexbear.net 24 points 5 months ago (1 children)

You say you want to help people understand CPUSA but the way you answer questions is incredibly counterproductive. Why not elaborate in any way?

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)
[–] Babs@hexbear.net 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

You're giving 1-2 sentence replies that half the time don't answer the question. I would hope someone trying to represent their party here could be more elaborate, especially in what should be the friendliest possible environment (a bunch of fellow communists).

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I have answered the questions. The problem is that people aren't really engaging with me or provide anything to really counter, just opinion, no evidence, I feel.

Also, communists are known for their sectarianism and in-fighting and I myself think "left unity" is pretty much a dead meme anyway.

[–] ProfessorOwl_PhD@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

One word is not an answer in these kinds of discussions - if you say the party doesn't support that stance, say what the party's stance actually is.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

But I'm not using one word though.

You didn't ask for the party's stance and the party's stance is obvious.

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

My guy if this is some kind of troll this is genius. If not, why shouldn't we vote for RFK instead? I think a brainworm better represents my interests than Biden.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Vote PSL or Green party. RFK is a right-winger.

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Different party where I'm at but I plan to. Brainworm truly is the best main-stream option.

Also, Green? They're libs lol

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 3 points 5 months ago

Green is better than RFK.

RFK has evangelicals that man his campaign and the stuff he says can be bonkers as well as his policies.
