Germany becoming a vassal state of the US is not really something I saw happening. I know our values align often, but their national personality seems less in line with ours
I blame the rapport that used to exist between that absolute war criminal minstrel Obama and Merkel honestly, that's when I saw the threads start binding. For all the absolute EARNED mess I talk on Barack, I won't deny-- he's one hell of an orator, and he proved people WILL cozy up to a talented orator if his talking benefits you when you're at his table.
Oh, definitely. I don't pay a lot of attention to what Germany is up to, but I remember thinking it was weird that they were getting so chummy. Part of me feels like Germany hasn't been shunned enough yet. There are still people alive that remember WWII. On the other hand, I wish we could move on from the neoliberal era and all get along and sing the internationale together.
Yes, it had a bit more autonomy during the cold war, but that has been thoroughly stamped out during the Merkel era.
germany was less a function of convergent interests (compare the US supporting Anglo-French empire post ww2) and more the direct military occupation, that is still there
Kind of like when two bullies are at odds, then realize they have a common goal. Resource extraction from weaker entities
