This is basically one of the premises of my (hopefully soon-to-be-published) book
A bunch of people around the world are granted powers by the living manifestations of various physical and metaphysical properties and told to fight each other over which properties will become the guiding principles of the universe from there on out
The protagonists decide that's stupid and declare war on the United States instead, using their powers to spearhead a vanguard that overthrows the government
Things escalate rapidly in the sequel when various world governments find and weaponize their Totemics
