Honestly yeah, we were on borrowed time being on reddit anyway, chapo was only tolerated for so long. Not to mention the mods of the old sub were weird nerds that would ban people for disagreeing with them or downvoting their dumb bits. Hexbear is waaay healthier and actually feels like a community.

This phrase is my personal pet peeve. The mods then weren't great but they didn't ban people because they hated disagreements as a concept, they wouldn't ban you if you disagreed with them on your favorite pizza toppings or about the best Star Wars trilogy.
They banned people for the substance of their opinions just like the hexbear mods do. Hexbear mods will ban zionists not because they can't stand anyone who disagrees with them, but because they can't stand zionists. Let's not pretend like hexbear welcomes opinions from the entire political spectrum. We just differ from the r/cth mods in what exact opinions we deem banworthy.
Edit: To be clear I do not think this is a bad thing. I support the mods banning people with terrible opinions.

It's wild that they still allow /r/trueanon and /r/shitliberalssay. Both have the same tone of posting and most of the same posters. Chapotraphouse hit a unique nerve with reddit.

r/shitliberalssay was pretty mild back then compared to chapo or moretankiechapo.
I don't think I was subscribed at the same time I was r/chapotraphouse in like 2015, but by maybe 2019 the comment section was a real proto-/c/slop. They have that same kind of metamodernist dada culture where they're chaotic good feral dogs.
Chapo was a much larger sub, and getting bigger all the time. It was big enough that it was the spectre haunting Reddit, so with that came enough infamy for the admins to ban it.
I legit had liberals on a “politically neutral” Discord server telling me to “go back to Chapo” in 2023. It’s clear it has left an imprint on their online psyche

I remember being part of a chapo discord that sucked tbh. Luckily someone posted about chapo.chat as an alternative to the sub. I was never super active in the sub. I didn't even listen to the pod until about a year before covid. I'm glad I found this site.

Apparently FULLCOMMUNISM is still around even though was guaranteed around the same time. It doesn't even have the cringe message saying you should go look at Victims of Communism either.
I was out getting lunch on my first day back from an 8 day work week. I checked my phone to if anything good had been posted to chapotraphouse3 when i saw that everyone had flooded over to blackwolffeed. Took me a minute to realize that we had posted too hard and now everyone was looking for a new home.
Then i clicked off and started browsing twitter.
You know that one guy from way back, uuuuuh I think his name was ah John Brown?
Yeah so it turns out he didn't do anything wrong. 
I was watching The Godfather part 2 (after really loving part 1) when I noticed that it was banned. It really ruined my experience watching the movie
Very thankful I saw a chapo.chat link on a different subreddit within a week of the ban and got to lurk here for a few years. I definitely would not have found this place since I'm always online but in a different way than a lot of you guys.
Anyway, happy anniversary.
