Pray to Comrade Sun for they will maybe deliver you with another likely diminished chance tomorrow night?? Insane they're being seen (well, with a camera unless you have like superman eyes) as far south as Florida atm

I'm very impressed with my pictures, they came out looking even better than the aurora itself!

I saw them and they were so beautiful, nearly cried. I'm also shocked they were so bright where I am

[-] jimmyjohnsandwichfive@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

It was red and green and just so pretty

obama-sad you at least can look at Crux and Canis Major - which I personally put in like my top 5 constellations and would like to see.... I will pray that the southern hemisphere gets blasted too by comrade sun this weekend

[-] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

Wow it's spectacular. It wasn't out earlier in the evening but as it got closer to midnight it was incredible

tfw light pollution

[-] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

It’s perfectly clear skies except to the north :( Also there’s far more light pollution in this city than it should reasonably have for its size

[-] JayTwo@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Can't see anything because of light pollution

[-] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

[-] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

[-] TyMan210@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Ah man I wish I saw it sooner. I'm in north Georgia, people 10 minutes away could see it just fine about two hours ago, but I can't see anything now

Too many trees, I can hardly see the sky from my front or back yard

I think I see a bit of red in the sky but not sure

[-] the_itsb@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

idk, I'm a little skeptical of the South Carolina pics you mentioned based on the weather we've had in the eastern US today and the timing of the aurora spread on that map you linked

I live in Ohio, and afaict from that map, it was only maybe briefly visible here around 8pm, which would have still been daylight in this timezone (same as South Carolina), and there were patchy storms across the eastern seaboard this evening.

maybe your friend was extremely lucky
