According to the NY Crimes, fare evasion cost the MTA $690 million in 2023. Meanwhile, congestion pricing was expected to bring in $1 billion annually. Yeah make that math work Hochul.

Also, this is doubly nonsensical because congestion pricing was for capital improvements. Fares don’t fund capital improvements, they’re purely for the operating budget.
