its a common misconception that mixing bleach and ammonia forms phosgene (mustard gas). bleach and ammonia when mixed together actually forms sodium hydroxide and monochloramine. monochloramine, while dangerous, isnt really an effective chemical weapon and hasn’t ever been used as such. phosgene and chlorine gas were commonly used in WW1, but neither can be synthesized with household cleaners

I heard that Facebook once served a cookie recipe in their cafeterias created by a machine learning model to make the best cookie

It contained a ton of weird ingredients (paprika, chili pepper, lemon, avocado, etc.) that if a singular one of them were added to a normal recipe, would've probably made the cookie have an incredible unique taste (which might be why the model rated all these weird ingredients really high, and put all of them together to maximize the recipe score)

However, the amalgam of all these special ingredients apparently made the cookie taste like absolute shit, and they never tried this ML recipe business ever again
