Cybertruck

True, I really thought it wasn't possible to make a car so shitty that it have to be recalled four times in its first seven months, yet here we are.

That innovation did lead to the innovation of thumbs-down being used over middle fingers to offend the divorce dads driving them.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

He simply carries on the grand tradition of GM and other burgerland autos. GM usually waits to do recalls though.

Cybertruck ❌ Self Driving ❌ Tunnel Cars ❌ Brain Implant ❌ X ❌

SpaceX has achieved a few things through remarkable mismanagement and a sheer magnitude of govt subsidies but still ❌

Do you even ❌?

Don't forget the incredible amount of worker abuse. I know people across Elon's companies who have regularly worked 80 hours weeks. Not to mention the safety violations

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i worked with a number of former tesla engineers and they had nothing but horror stories about him

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Did they share any with you in particular? I fully believe you, either way.

the one that stood out the most was that they were terrified of the company all-hands meetings because Musk would fire people seemingly at random.. one guy said you didn't dare look him in the eye because if he ever noticed you and didn't like how you looked then you'd escorted out of the building and get your shit mailed to you.

another said it was nothing but one-uppmanship throughout the entire company but people grinded through it as long as possible because of the stock options.. or the "golden cuffs" so they said.. and one guy was extremely upset about that because he made it right to the week of his vesting period and got laid off, so he got nothing after all the torture he went through

I heard something similar from someone that said that my-hero style bosses were like seagulls: they'd show up, shit everywhere, make a lot of noise, then fly off again.

he made it right to the week of his vesting period and got laid off, so he got nothing after all the torture he went through

A lot of corpos keep a close eye on benefits timers and do exactly that months, weeks, even days before the promise is supposed to pay off.

chiming in here, one guy got absolutely torn apart for a perfectly adequate solution that elon didn't like the looks of. literally, did not enjoy the visual aesthetics of an engineering solution. huge fucking tantrum, entire team + other seniors present, dude quit a while later. many such stories. most people just put up with it, were a few legends who walked out on him. was more unstable when he was younger. gave all his engineers ptsd and daddy issues...

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

yeah.. also stories about how you never dared say "no" to elong or dare tell him what he was asking for was stupid or impossible.. you might as well just pack up and leave on your own if you so much as thought about it.

So he ended up with nothing but yes-men in all upper mgmt positions who would just fire people to make daddy happy whenever something wasn't going according to his ridiculous plans which was practically all the time

Before Musk, tunnels were considered impossible.

It's like those Halo bros that think dual-wielding firearms started with Halo.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

John Woo actually got the idea from Halo 2 joker-gaming

[–] TheSpectreOfGay@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

oh god, this image is so embarassing lol, everything featured is such a laughable failure

[–] Sulvor@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

I wouldn't call Falcon rockets a failure by any measure, but Elon had no part in them

[–] VHS@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A human driving a car at 20 mph down a tunnel was considered impossible until The Chosen One pulled it off against all odds.

The greatest listed achievement was renaming Twitter to Le Epic X, so impressive that it turned a 44 billion dollar company into a 10 billion dollar company (and dropping).

It was great because fuck Twitter, lol.

The space mission the other day is pretty Jokerfying because it was helmed by billionaires which is just the bourgeoisie giving a big ol finger to the poors stuck on a dying earth.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Astronauts and cosmonauts had to dedicate their lives to even be considered for the job, lived it day and night in both mental and physical rigor, but now it's billionaire narcissists putting on costumes and LARPing as their favorite scifi treats. lord-bezos-amused

I wish them all a very industrial accident on Mars.
