The End of Democracy narrative they have been building absolutely justifies it, if nothing happens it will be because they never really believed all those things

[–] mudpuppy@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago (2 children)

do you think it's gonna be business as usual in four years?

[–] rhubarb@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago

Who can say, but I do find the liberal "proof" of Trump's dictatorial intent flimsy, and am also skeptical of his ability to do a self-coup if he did want to end democracy.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

Yeah. The ruling class loves its elections. Plus its a billion dollar industry. Elections are too big to fail

They respectfully ask him to step down, get ignored, and do nothing. Then ask for donations.

no, they're weiners who love to obey the rules and the rules say trump won

best youll get is jeff tedrich clones and marches without demands or consequences for not meeting those demands

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Uncritical support for Jeff if he decides to do something funy.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

I don't think we'll even see the pink hat march 2.0, let alone January 6th.

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

They didn't do shit for Roe and Brandon made it very clear that any meaningful dissent will be crushed by state security forces.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] kleeon@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's looking like republicans are gonna get a trifecra it literally does not matter what dems do they are a dead politician party.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

Agreed. The democratic party is dead and irrelevant.

Even if we got Bernie 2.0 like Shawn Fain ran as a dem, think of how many liberals would be scratched and run straight to the GOP's warm embrace.

they can even do the thing with the cast of hamilton singing

[–] Piment@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

they won't! but trade-offer will instead offer to have a Republican as their VP in the next eleciton to ease any worries that they are not willing to reach across the aisle

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah but it's gonna suck and it won't be funny. They're just gonna stand outside the building wearing novelty t-shirts.

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

And these t-shirts will have the most smug, the most cringe slogans ever seen printed on them.

[–] Ericthescruffy@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

Not a chance. Libs worship power and procedure above all else. More than for any other material reason: they hate Trump because he violates norms and etiquette. Even against Trump Jan 6 is a bridge too far because as good at mental gymnastics they might be: even they can't square the circle that to do a Jan 6 is to challenge the very foundation and legitimacy of the American system. The Jan 6 crowd may have done it for the absolute dumbest possible reasons but they have no such scruples.

[–] HoiPolloi@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, as much as I'd love to see it, they're far too cowardly and obsessed with appearing respectable to actually do anything.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

It's lawsuits at best

[–] Blockocheese@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago
