I'm in a small college town in NW Ohio and we have been getting more and more lightning bugs the past few summers and it has been incredible. Thousands of them light up the walling trails by the river at night and i get dozens of them around my home.
Stick bug
GET STICK BUGGED

LOL
Communism is inherently evil.
Excuse me but it's actually weevil.
Praying mantis, because one time I had one square up and try to fight me and I am incredibly amused by that kind of single-minded Oblivion NPC confidence in a creature two inches tall
You could have learned from it.
The skiing bug in the OG Tribes that the devs caught during development and decided to keep bc it was so fun.
no foolin?
This one from Lego Star Wars 2 where if you die at the same time as the spider droid you were riding you become one and then can turn it into a normal character that you can still ride on top of
Also the brown-belted bumblebee so fuzzy
Praying mantises. They look cool, there's over 2000 species of them, ans they're one of the few arthropods with true 3d binocular vision
We cannot be forced to choose the lesser of two Weevils.
I prefer my bugs to to big and fluffy, so moths and tarantulas.
Bumblebees can be honorary good bugs, but they're too small to really do it for me.
I like horse flies.
They hurt when they bite but I really respect and identify with them, they never ever give up lol.
They're kinda pretty but mostly ugly. They're annoying and perseverant amd courageous. They like to drink blood.
No one else will agree but for me? The best bug is a horse fly.
Would you rather face in combat:
1 horse sized fly
or
100 fly sized horses?
100 horse size flies or
1 horse sized horse fly
horse sized fly would collapse under its weight or at the very least suffocate
Dragonflies & Mantises are cool as hell. Among the cutest bugs IMO is the Pellucid Hawk Moth
I like bees
The praying mantis because it befriended a bullied kid in school and taught him kung fu to stand up to his bullies mantis style.
Dragonflies!!!
Ladybugs
The Insulindian Phasmid
The Chief just called. This is it. Thread over. Lock it down, mods.
Weevils were all over my grains the other week! For this crime, they are not cute 😤
But...that weevil is kinda...cute. If it would ask me nicely, I would pass my grains over. Sharing is caring.
I like ants - not in my kitchen, obviously, but I think the way they've organized into an entire little society entirely through pheromones is pretty cool. I'd say the same thing about bees but I'm kinda scared of them.
I'm sorry my avian friend; but I fear that proboscis-looking thing precludes this weevil from being 'cute'.
velvet worm! i'm trying to add an adorable picture of one to my comment but i don't know how to add it so believe me when i say they're really cute!
ANTS EZ
The sheer variety is crazy, you got
- Cute regular ant
- Red ouch ant
- Ants that farm mushrooms
- ants that farm aphids
- ants that drink the blood of their own young
- ants who's sole job it is to hang from the ceiling and store nectar in your belly for other working ants to come along and eat
- ants that stick leaves together to make an apartment building
And those are only the ones I can think of off the dome
The flying drone bug from starcraft brood war is probably my favourite one. Certainly not the most important one in StarCraft history though
There's a lot to pick from, really. Maybe Isopods, if crustaceans count. Or spiders! I like jumping spiders and the member os the Argiope genus.
i have a phobia to bees and bee-like insects, and also don't really like most bugs. but luckily there are some bangers. the weevil is very cute, no argument there. stick bugs kind of rock. caterpillars, butterflies, moths, all of those are excellent. but i think the best bug is easily the praying mantis. it's just got a lot of personality, and also it's big but looks like a pokemon, so they're cool with me.
it's the pillbug
i know it's not a true bug. is that unfair? well get over it. life isn't fair.
:real-isopod-hours:
You just chose it because it looks like an owl!
I could have chosen the Owl Fly!
What a hoot!
I think objectively the answer is honeybees.
I think subjectively, the answer is the Mantis. But there are too many cool ass bugs out there. Cecropia moths are really rad.
The cutest bug of all time is the Agapostemon Splendons!! Its name translates to 'splendid dick lover' and it looks like God asked a four year old to design he coolest bug possible. It's half classic yellow and black stripes, and half irridiscent turqoise!
It's a solitary ground bee and I think they are absolutely lovely.
the best bug is one that doesn't fly and stays out of my apartment
cool but also a bit sus
The Boll Weevil Monument in downtown Enterprise, Alabama, United States is a prominent landmark and tribute erected by the citizens of Enterprise in 1919 to show their appreciation to an insect, the boll weevil, for its profound influence on the area's agriculture and economy. Hailing the beetle as a "herald of prosperity," it stands as the world's first monument built to honor an agricultural pest.
At the base of the monument appears the following inscription:
"In profound appreciation of the Boll Weevil and what it has done as the herald of prosperity this monument was erected by the citizens of Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama."
