The little time it did exist was maybe a ten year period or so in total. The dismantling of it was started in the 80s and went to full swing in the early 90s when the Soviet Union fell. In Finland the government took the IMF fully in and pledged to privatize and halt the advance of a welfare state in 1992.
It's such a pet peeve for me to see the Nordic model used in AmeriKKKan rhetoric as a thing that exists, it barely ever managed to exist.

196 is a meme subreddit where the main rule is that anyone who visits is supposed to post a meme. It has a progressive lean and attracts baby leftists but they beefed hard with all the actually leftist subreddits
The most frustrating thing about these Reddit radlibs is how open they are to give the benefit of the doubt to their fascist acquaintances and parasocial streamer friends but seeing anyone say "Maybe I have hope that China will make the world a better place" makes them rage so hard they'll kick you out of the 20 subreddits they moderate.

It's not really a plot twist. They're complaining that people have standards for what being left is (i.e. not wanting rightists in the movement). Following onto this, they hate on people who are more left-wing than them.
Anyone to my right is a deranged fascist (who I actually will accept as my friend) but everyone to my left is an unserious tankie.

lmao what. this dude is basically saying purity tests are bad except when they're used to demonize actually principled leftists. he's all but admitting he holds bigoted positions that he refuses to come to terms with let alone combat, so he doesn't like the way people talk about "centrists", and that energy should be shifted to attacking left wing people because left wing people actually understand their politics, have reasons for their politics, and examined their previously bigoted "centrist" politics to get to that left wing position.

The term "tankie" is so watered down at this point it has no meaning. It's just a subjective euphemism for "I personally dislike it." Which is a great sentiment if building a movement.
9/10 times just means someone with a better historical understanding of the 20th century than me. most people using the term these days are fair weather twitter "socialists" with marvel movie utopian view of everything and no real understanding of things as basic as class struggle, imperialism let alone dialectical/historical materialism. and all western chauvinists of course.

Nah, I think these are definitely the types of people who will recommend the local Democratic Party or just be confused about the idea that there could be more political action than just voting.
