Billionaire Democratic donors Barry Diller and Reid Hoffman said in interviews this week they hope Kamala Harris will replace Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan if she becomes U.S. president, openly rejecting a pillar of President Joe Biden's antitrust policy.

Khan has been at the forefront of the Biden administration's push to use U.S. antitrust law to boost competition and address high prices and low wages. Khan, who oversaw the FTC's ban on noncompete agreements, has drawn the ire of corporate groups, but won fans including Donald Trump's running mate, JD Vance, for her skepticism towards big business.

Now, big money Democratic donors this week publicly said Khan should not be part of a potential Harris administration. Diller, chairman of travel site Expedia, said in a recent Bloomberg interview that he would donate the maximum allowed to Harris' campaign. He said in an interview on CNBC on Friday that he would lobby Harris to replace Khan, saying Khan was against "almost anything" business wants to do to grow efficiently.

Some Republicans are starting to seriously regret Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.

It’s been only one week since Vance was nominated at the Republican National Convention, and already his own party members are expressing severe doubts about Trump’s pick. The former president’s allies have acknowledged that nominating Vance was the product of Trump’s absolute certainty that he would be able to defeat Joe Biden in November. While Vance wouldn’t do much for swing voters or independents, he would likely shore up support among Trump’s base.

But ever since Biden passed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s new presumptive nominee, Republicans have begun to sour on Vance.

“The road got a lot harder. He was the only pick that wasn’t the safe pick. And I think everyone has now realized that,” one House Republican told Axios Thursday, under the condition of anonymity.

Another House Republican told Axios that Vance “doesn’t add much.”

So like I was trying to install Davinci resolve (an editing program) and while doing so it basically said "removing" followed by that appears to be everything installed on my computer

So I nope right out of there and I notice a bunch of important things are missing ex: the terminal, file manager, etc

So I just decided Maybe if I reboot everything will be a ok

And now on this screen and it won't even let me enter my logic

This was the latest update of Kubuntu And idk what I did wrong or how I got here

I've only been using Kubuntu for probably about 4 months ish

Important history

Coming from a district court, I think this ruling could be appealed, but it's welcome news nevertheless.

I'm trying to get a job in IT that will (hopefully) pay more than a usual 9 to 5. I'm been daily driving Linux exclusively for about 2 1/2 years now and I'm trying to improve my skills to the point that I could be considered a so-called "power user." My question is this: will this increase my hiring chances significantly or marginally?

On this day, 4 years ago the site was first launched (then a day later the first post made), Formed from chapotraphouse remnants, the old admins decided to make a site using Lemmy as its base. Originally called chapo.chat, Hexbear has grown into one of the biggest instances in the lemmyverse.

Despite various sitewide struggle sessions, wrecker incursions from other forums and federation drama, Hexbear has keep growing strong in its 4th year, now with 4 megathreads, over 4 million comments, 300k posts and much more.

Its being great running the general megathread for a bit over 3 years, since i took over i have tried to get it mostly in time and just one unlike during the old times, i like to think i have done a decent job, plus i have also added a bit of reading material to them so you nerds can learn from them and i like to think you have been reading them , its also nice to see the new megathreads how they have slowing grown up to the size to the old general mega in the time of the old admins.

I wont lie, all the fedidrama has been fun to read, especially when libs wander here
