Everyone just shows up in the same feed. USians are making posts in English alongside all the posts in Chinese. I've seen Chinese users making jokes like "Give me your data!" or "Welcome, I'm your new Chinese spy". I saw one comment on a post that read, "They better start posting in English soon." which, was getting heavily flamed. Lots of Luigi posting, it would seem. I also keep getting Chinese accounts posting a lot of really cool Socialist Realism art/propaganda posters, old and new. Lots of cringe USians making posts about being "refugees" on the app.

my co-worker, a british woman who moved here (USA) with her husband, is a perfectly nice person. i have no problems with her, but talking to her opened my eyes to how insanely ignorant and brainwashed your average person is

she’s the definition of just a normal ass regular ass type of person. progressive but not overtly political and just kinda floating through existence. which is fine.

we were talking and she was saying all of this negative stuff about china. i of course told her my point of view which is that im very very pro china and don’t think anything she was saying was actually proven. she then went on to say maybe im right and that she doesnt get why china is bad but japan is our ally “because its the same country isnt it?” so this tells me many normal people are walking around with negative opinions about china meanwhile they literally dont even know china isnt a part of japan.

she then went on to clarify, “wait maybe im thinking of korea. which is the bad one again?” IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS SUPPOSEDLY BAD, SHOULDNT YOU KNOW WHAT THE BAD THING IS? how is that not a light that goes off for her and makes her consider “how tf do i think a place is bad when i literally don’t even know what place im talking about?”

i just said “well it depends on your perspective” and then changed the conversation to be about the tv show Tulsa King lmao

The number of times that I have seen people refer to the American contribution to WWII as cowardice, meaningless, etc, is too damn high. 400,000 Americans died in that war. Read a fucking history book you ignorant, insensitive fucks.

So I was flipping through the channels on my buddy's TV (as you do) and came across an odd channel that started off its next segment saying something along the lines of 'China, looks advanced and fancy, but hides a beast (and then shows a Chinese dragon), their dark ways rot something something a danger to the world something something dark dark dark'. I couldn't make out everything the narrator was saying because even though it was in classical Arabic, it had an accent that threw me off; thankfully my friend was there to translate. Basically they loaded up every sentence of their (ad? segment? I don't know, I changed the channel) with variations on the word 'dark' or 'evil' and how they're a danger to the world (apparently in Arabic it doesn't sound as redundant as it does in English). They also showed scenes from inside prisons; honestly I still have no idea how even if, EVEN IF, the Chinese are cruel to their prisoners that that would make them a threat to the world, so I fail to see the relevance of that clip.

I asked my buddy which country that channel was from (they get multiple Middle Eastern channels here) and he said he believes it's American.

Radio free Arabia everyone; and what kind of gave me that hint was the fact the channel is literally also called 'the freedom' in Arabic.
