I am sorry to invade the trans thread. How did you make it? There is some reasons why it could not be soften.
Well, tbh I kind of cheated on softening, the bag said you can soak them by bringing them to a boil for a few minutes then letting them sit in the hot water for an hour or so. I boiled then let it sit for 2 hours, then simmered for the recipe, and they got slightly softer but not significantly so
It is okay to do. You can add small amount of baking soda to help it soften better. If there is tomato in the curry you can also simmer the chickpea before adding it. Acid of the tomato can prevent it from soften.
