It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to !shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

Is .world dying or something? Lol

The old boogymen of Hexbear and Grad are invisible, so .world will saber rattle from time to time. .ml believes in an interconnected fediverse, so they don't plan on defeding, and .world wants to maintain their image of being impartial.

I imagine eventually the contradiction will be resolved and some inciting incident will leave us with .world defeding and a multipolar Lemmy arising.

Honestly if the Lemmy creators are ML I don't understand why they don't just tell .world to fuck off. They're not constructive to have in the fediverse and all they do is lower the quality of the place while spreading red scare style disinfo.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 44 points 5 months ago (4 children)

Dessalines said it's because they value an interconnected fediverse, and believe in the long run it will be better to not defed from any major instance, despite the skirmishes.

I largely agree, if Hexbear and Lemmygrad can't serve that role or don't want to, it's good to have at least one major instance to expose libs to Marxism. Even if my experience would be better on Grad or Hexbear, I still like being able to try to lead libs to theory.

You're a hero. I've dealt with Reddit chuds for ages but once I found this place I completely abandoned the rest of the internet, I have enough brainworms to disinfect from people around me IRL. It takes some real dedication to keep patiently talking with those nerds.

Imma be real, I'm just a recovering debate pervert lol. Appreciate the kind words, comrade!

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 20 points 5 months ago

Fair enough point.

[–] davi@hexbear.net 12 points 5 months ago

they sound like a better person than i.

i left reddit because i couldn't stomach the absurdity and now my stomach hurts from seeing yet another rally cry for defederation on lemmy.world and i find myself wishing that they would.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 20 points 5 months ago

Pretty sure one of the lemmy devs did tell them to fuck off but it was the beehaw admins who were acting like they were customers and the devs own them updates

Thats why there was a push to get people to support sublinks because they think that building a fediverse forum from zero in java is easier than leaning rust and supporting the evil tankie devs

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 16 points 5 months ago

"being ML" doesn't mean you have to have a liberal free zone

[–] Owl@hexbear.net 41 points 5 months ago (2 children)

The old .world is dying, and the new .world struggles to be born: now is the time of ... huh there don't seem to be any monsterfucker lemmies, so I guess pawb.social.

[–] PaX@hexbear.net 34 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (3 children)

pawb.social also full of anti-tankie lemmitor type people sadness

cw: transphobiahttps://pawb.social/post/1996560

MORE up-arrow TANKIE tankie FURRIES hopium

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 31 points 5 months ago

Fucking funny how they call us insufferable, when they're the smug debate perverts. projection

[–] Leon_Frotsky@hexbear.net 10 points 5 months ago

Unironically people online who's whole shtick is that they're a white guy furry in tech are 98% of the time the most insufferable people alive

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 22 points 5 months ago

Now is the time of Redditors

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 16 points 5 months ago

Maybe theyre still trying to make sublinks happen?

[–] timicin@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

it pains me to say this: but they're the largest lemmy instance in terms on active users.

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Must be a quantity over quality thing then, because what little I have seen of them doesn't impress me

[–] timicin@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 5 months ago

quantity is the right word; i suspect that post is on the top ten most popular in terms of votes and comments.
