people love their symbolic bullshit like, "yeah it would be nice to see the president go to the site" what that really means is it would be nice for the airspace to be cut off and traffic to be disrupted and flights to be delayed and the investigation slowed to a crawl while the security detail disrupts everything so that a guy can look around for a few minutes and be like, "yup, some aircraft sure did crash here!"

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 90 points 6 days ago (2 children)

"It was one of the strongest, wettest crashes I've ever seen."

Nothing sadder could've happened here

Part of me wonders if it would bring some comfort to the families of some victims who would like to see their tragedy given some weight and importance by someone as important as the President. But it's Trump, so we know he'd barely be able to pretend he gave a shit.

"Well you know it's a tragedy, these planes are usually so safe, big beautiful aircraft- have you ever been on one? Very nice but the "flight attendants" you have to call them flight attendants now because you get in trouble if you call them a stewardess but that used to be the name of the job! They used to say "I want to be a stewardess when I grow up!" but now they let anyone do it and you have to say the right thing or the left will come after you. The news media. The media will come after me and say "He doesn't think men should be on airplanes" but I love airline workers. Nobody loves our amazing airline workers more than me and people tell me that all the time"

You really have his cadence down

[–] bg10k@lemmy.dbzer0.com 42 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Lol I've spent a lot of time trying to like trace down the threads of his dialogue because it's so shockingly chaotic

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 50 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

A lot of it feels very "Initial premise, side tangent, hyper focus about something in the side tangent, finish in the general direction of the initial premise"

[–] bg10k@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's very much a "This man has had all of the human parts of him replaced with money and nobody has ever corrected or interrupted him" vibe

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 25 points 6 days ago

Trump is like deadpool if all the voices in deadpool's head had equal access to his mouth.

[–] Cammy@hexbear.net 7 points 6 days ago

This is a dangerous road you walk.

[–] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 40 points 6 days ago

10/10 no notes lmao

This really is amazing. The only other person who I've seen do it so well is the guy who does the Trump impressions on Saturday Night Live nowadays, or whoever writes for him at least, if he doesn't do it himself.

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 8 points 6 days ago

It's like I was reading a transcript of the man lol

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 25 points 6 days ago (1 children)

"Here, you can have a coupon to any Trump tower; 20% discount, the best discount, everyone says so. We got a guy here who says he got a 15% discount, woulda killed for a 20% discount; the best towers, no one builds 'em like I do, but we got the radical left trying to...." (and then this goes on for another ten minutes and somehow ends on an entirely different topic than it started)

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 4 points 6 days ago

Family members awkwardly shuffling their feet wondering if they're still supposed to be standing there or not. Looking around confused while aides shrug back at them just off camera.

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 20 points 6 days ago (1 children)

i totally get that but a competent leader could pull that off without gumming up the investigation by symbolically visiting it

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 7 points 6 days ago

True. Like a phone call or inviting the family over for a photo op or something.

"no mr trump there is no need to swim."

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 39 points 6 days ago (1 children)

"No, Mister Trump. I expect you to dive."

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 68 points 6 days ago (4 children)

Trump is the key to all of this, because he's a funnier president than we've ever had before.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 38 points 6 days ago (1 children)

The multi-billion dollar genetic engineering labs be like, after their GWB run was over, "We can rebuild him; we have the technology. We can make him worse....slower.....dumber"

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 24 points 6 days ago

we need to start a bullying campaign: Trump is too much of a coward to eat all these pretzels

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 23 points 6 days ago

It's like poetry, it rhymes.

I'm hoping I can laugh as he gets bird flu while liberals tell us to pray for his recovery.

[–] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 55 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Lmao soul of a poster. It has literally never mattered that a politician visits the site of x, just that they respond properly. Anything else is just a photo op.

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 43 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's what I don't get about the gerontocracy. Like, he can't be in great health. He can hear the long dark calling his name every night as he drifts off to another apnea-laden slumber. There's no long term consequences to anything you do, so just do something goddamn fun. Say free ponies for everyone. Dump a birthday cake on Mike Johnson's head. Anything but the status quo but dumber.

I'd vote for him!

hillary-contempt Wipe the servers, you mean like with a cloth?

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 83 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah like this is loveable boob behavior...but it's coming from a fucking fascist.

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 70 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The president is the villain of a children's movie where the hero is a talking dog.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 24 points 6 days ago

Alternatively he's also the villain of a comic strip that ends with the other character going "......what?"

[–] BlueMagaChud@hexbear.net 21 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 33 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Call me a lib if you must, but I stand by my statement that he is!

[–] BlueMagaChud@hexbear.net 21 points 6 days ago

I mean, of course he is, every US president is, but that phrase is hers forever in my mind
