For sale: chemo mug, never smashed. you-hear-about-video-games

It's actually darker that there's a place making these first hand and someone designed this and people thought it was something to sell. What sick fuck thinks of chemo patients as a market for coffee mugs?

[–] underwire212@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago

Maybe someone got it as a custom build mug

deathMy mom went through years of chemo and surgery. The last years of her life were miserable and painful.

Watching her whither away into nothing like that makes me think that if I'm ever diagnosed, I'd probably just refuse treatment, live for a bit, then kms.

Sorry what happened to your mum. Also wanted to say that a lot of cancers are very treatable (and some are very much less so), so pls consider the prognosis from the doctor first.

Similar but my grandmother had dementia

When was this if you don't mind me asking?

Chemo treatments have gotten much better and do not always make you sick. My dad went through a few chemo treatments last year before they determined that it was too late for chemo to help and he felt no worse after the treatments (though the baseline I'm comparing against is still obviously being very sick).

I struggle to understand who would buy it now

A used one feels cursed

Me, I don't think someone would donate something like that after losing a loved one to cancer in the first place. I could smash it for them cause it is all over.

[–] pappabosley@lemm.ee 20 points 2 days ago

Me, because then the cancer would think i had already beat it and stay away

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago

It probably isn't used for exactly that reason. Still not a great call for goodwill.

Don't talk to me until I finish my haunted mornibg coffee

That's some quality dark humor, to be sure. Lost my mom to cancer a few months back and this stings.

But again, not gonna deny a quality fucked up joke.

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They got better and donated it, right?

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

liberalismmaybe they obtained seven of them as horcruxes and donated them to different thrift shops so that they cannot be killed by cancer until all seven are smashed

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Thank you for this cognitohazard of a take. We all want people to get better but this would make me wish caner on them harder
