Genuinely idk what to do... I really need a vehicle where I am at but I don't want to deal with a nazi.

I mean they probably have repellant views but this doesn’t scream neo nazi to me. The Iron Cross, while carrying some connotations, plenty of Normies just don’t recognize those and just think it’s a cool bad ass cross. Maybe I’m just missing something but that’s my read

Isn’t it still used by the German army? Not that Germans are paragons of anti-nazism, but it seems to just represent “Germany” as it was used before WWII

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Right so the imperial genocidaire empire?

[–] reaper_cushions@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago (1 children)

That’s literally any Western European army. The average person does either simply not know or not care because they ascribe it to some “distant past”.

Yes you are missing the fact that iron cross is the oldest and most widespread neonazi dogwhistle for swastika.

Isn't Independant a skateboard company? They changed their terrible logo: https://shredder.news/independent-trucks-logo-change/

[–] BobDole@hexbear.net 18 points 4 months ago

Lmao, they probably just googled “independant [sic] logo” and were like “oh cool a cross!”

[–] HexBeara@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Imo they're not beating the allegations by adding red and rounding out the logo...

Nvm, I looked too hard at the logo and not the dates. A quick Google image shows differing uses of their brand name to create a logo tho and that's cool. They even have one where it's iron cross esq but has swirlies on the top and bottom instead, which I guess is a good nod without being tethered to such a problematic insignia. But yeah... The one they had used was definitely catering to a certain crowd wether or not they were aware of what they were doing...

Like the old one on a white background looks like something a klansman would wear as a patch on their robe...

This is def the iron cross and not the truck logo tho...

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

I mean "Independant" is also spelled wrong, so I doubt this one's going for accuracy

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

Yeah but the article shows that they used the iron cross before changing it. Could be an older jacket but I don’t see anything online

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 21 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This is just an old skater logo and they also really like Jesus?

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 months ago

That's what I thought too

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

Dude's just a clueless suburbanite. Also, don't sew three patches onto the back of your jacket, even if it is this jank rando shit. Banner at the top, center piece, lower banner - that arrangement is a no no.

[–] Hello_Kitty_enjoyer@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

independant

like pottery

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This isn’t damning on its own, plenty of people would just see the iron cross as a cross. Becomes apparent if they’re just clueless if it is a pattern with other signs or not.

[–] booty@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

plenty of people would just see the iron cross as a cross.

I don't think there's any Christian who would look at that symbol and naively think it's for Christianity

They might not know what it means but they definitely aren't thinking it's "just a cross" lol

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

It is literally a Christian symbol that was used as a Christian symbol by the Prussians and later the Nazis.

It isn’t standard looking, but it isn’t a rare form of cross.

[–] booty@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

Right but it's not 1930

[–] Midnight1938@reddthat.com 1 points 4 months ago

'swastika' is hakenkreutz ie hooked cross. You think they care?

[–] krolden@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 months ago

Independent trucks are nazis?

[–] anonochronomus@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

Looks more like a clueless wannabe biker than an actual nazi. Early Hells Angels and other motorcycle clubs appropriated Nazi symbols, helmets, etc. Their goal was more shock value than anything else. Hells Angels were founded by WW2 fighter pilots that couldn't adjust to normal life again, so I can kind of understand how waaay back in the day the original dudes might have felt like it's NBD because they killed a bunch of nazis. TO BE CLEAR, I'm not going to bat for the Angels or other 3%er clubs, they are shit people who do awful stuff, but context kinda matters, and I don't think some suburbanite who's trying to dress like a fake biker is necessarily a nazi.

[–] Silenus2@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 4 months ago

The Bundeswehr still use the Iron Cross, AFAIK. A biker who wears a fake Pickelhaube is not inherently a prussiaboo, so why's this any different?
