agony-deep Man how much lower can this worm dig? Almost glad he never had a shot to sit on the genocide king’s throne.

Sorry people aren’t as willing to abandon their morals and fall in line for a pyrrhic political ghoul as you, Bernie.

[-] isthecumsafe@hexbear.net 15 points 8 hours ago

One year ago my brother told me "European politicians are Nazis but at least Britain has Corbyn and America has Bernie." deeper-sadness

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 7 points 7 hours ago

Corbyn at least kept his spine long-corbyn

[-] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 7 points 7 hours ago

One year ago? Did you just wake up from a coma?

[-] PurrLure@hexbear.net 26 points 9 hours ago

Democrats are getting desperate. Even the most casual DSA leftists have stopped trusting every word out of Bernie's mouth for at least a year now.

Does he even use the word "genocide"? As soon as he used the worn down harm reduction argument, I tuned out.

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 9 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

morshupls He has never used the word genocide, except to dismiss the charge of it as it would incrimate the entire US government. Yet is careful to not mention that fact, except he does admit it is wholly complicit in what's going on there.

[-] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 15 points 9 hours ago

Did he actually say harm reduction?? That would be amazing, like he is admitting that they are doing harm and won't stop.

Like their campaign promise officially is "we aren't as harmful".

I had to turn it off at about 1:10, the bot below has a safer link.

He basically says yeah it's bad, but Trump and friends are worse. flattened-bernie

[-] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 6 points 8 hours ago

Oh I'm not watching that, thanks though 👍

seriously though there is spineless and then there's spineless while maintaining the illusion of walking upright.

[-] PurrLure@hexbear.net 10 points 7 hours ago

Omg I made the mistake of watching further. He says that if Trump wins "the struggle with climate change is over" LIKE KAMALA ISN'T PRO FRACKING AND PRO INFINITE ECONOMIC GROWTH YOU FUCKING HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK shoulder-grab

Yeah no this video is ragebait for leftists and a circlejerk for libs. Do not recommend. They're out of touch if they really thought this would get them new voters.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Damn the democrats are fucking ruthless. Can't believe they're making him film a video telling everybody else to just abandoned anything even resembling a value like he did.

That heart attack gun better be fucking real.

[-] Kuori@hexbear.net 5 points 7 hours ago

it's not, he's just a monster like the rest of them.

[-] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 19 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

I’d love to know how many people this actually appeals to. Are there really that many “progressives” happy to see someone who once inspired them simping for the establishment that cucked him so bad?

Although based on the YouTube comments people love this shit what-the-hell don’t read them if you don’t want psychic damage

[-] SubstantialNothingness@hexbear.net 11 points 8 hours ago

Honestly at this point I think Bernie's currently vocal "supporters" are actually conservative Dems using him like a cudgel to guilt-trip and exploit progressive voters into moving to the right. Bernie doesn't seem to mind playing right into their strategy - maybe he doesn't know, maybe he doesn't care.

At the same time I don't think progressives are even a functional political bloc anymore which makes it all kind of funny. It's like the conservatives crossed the finish line and won the race 4 years ago, but they didn't realize it so they're still out there running all by themselves.

[-] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 9 hours ago

Don't go on world politics comm cause they're so excited to see him saying trump will be worse everywhere

[-] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 17 points 10 hours ago

While it would have been funny if he had announced his unconditional support of the Al-Qassam brigades a week before the election, I guess we live in the real world where this happens instead. There shouldn't be any disappointment. We knew what his position was going to be.

[-] Mantikora@hexbear.net 9 points 9 hours ago

Bernie also became demented grandad. 🤦‍♀️

[-] Hexboare@hexbear.net 7 points 7 hours ago

Time to touch-grass on the farm upstate grandad

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 46 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

I assume that a significant number of people here became leftists because of a brief ephemeral momentum that Bernie Sanders was the figurehead of. This has to sting a bit.

[-] Dessa@hexbear.net 23 points 10 hours ago

What turned me to the left wasn't Bernie per se, but how the DNC was exposed to be cheating in Hil's favor and how the Wikileaks report that exposed it was buried by the media.

There was a clear party interest in opposing leftward movement, and a clear media collusion in that.

This greatly disillusioned me

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 14 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

The "coin toss" rituals were such an obvious ratfuck during the primaries: ever watch the videos of the "coin tosses?" The loyal ghouls doing them caught the coin, glanced at it, then set it down on the arm. what-the-hell

It doesn't take a math teacher to tell someone that 9 coin tosses out of 10 going to hillgasm on actual fair coin tosses is very, very unlikely.

[-] Dessa@hexbear.net 9 points 9 hours ago
[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 4 points 8 hours ago

I watched it happen live, one toss at a time. All my faith in the DNC died that day.

[-] Hexboare@hexbear.net 3 points 7 hours ago

There was some obscure coin toss thing in Iowa to determine delegate numbers in the primary, Hilary "won" six in a row with a ~1.5 percent probability

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 11 points 9 hours ago

He was at least an amerikkka politician I had some respect for. I'd already lost all respect for him because of his groveling for Biden and finding out that he voted in favor of bombing Serbia, but his neocon and Israel lover arc has made me give me strength to comrade heart attack.

[-] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 24 points 11 hours ago

It definitely pushed me to examine my own chauvinism, even if i had considered myself a radical long before Bernard

Still, it was wild to have a shred of optimism

[-] Chronicon@hexbear.net 25 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

it's stopped stinging by now but yeah, it did the first time

definitely wasn't the only thing that radicalized me but it was that era

[-] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 11 points 10 hours ago

I'm not even from the US, but it was inspiring to see what he was doing out there anyways... ah well, nevertheless

[-] vegeta1@hexbear.net 12 points 10 hours ago

Wonder what the numbers are or how folks here got pushed to it. For me just being from the global south I found it in other ways.

[-] Cowbee@hexbear.net 28 points 11 hours ago

Depressing. flattened-bernie was greatly influential in pulling liberals leftward, yet also serves as a block against further movement.

[-] Yor@hexbear.net 26 points 12 hours ago

continues to only disappoint. pathetic

[-] happybadger@hexbear.net 35 points 12 hours ago

Objectively the moderate wing of fascism.

[-] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 32 points 12 hours ago

Bernard "Genocide Defender" Sanders strikes again

[-] micnd90@hexbear.net 17 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

We thought he was Genosse Sanders, he's actually Genocide Bernard

[-] micnd90@hexbear.net 16 points 11 hours ago

Why even bother trying and add salt to injury? Just ignore this issue and have the decency to tell us sweet lies like Obama did. These fucks are useless, khallas fam, khallas

[-] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 26 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

No, bourgeois politicians should actually tell people to get fucked more often. It builds class consciousness like nothing else.

[-] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 10 hours ago

seriously, i wish he would go harder to piss more people off

[-] plinky@hexbear.net 27 points 12 hours ago

Does bernie support bds? Or only bibi bad politics

[-] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 37 points 12 hours ago

“While I do not support the BDS movement, we must defend every American’s constitutional right to engage in political activity. It is clear to me that this bill would violate Americans’ First Amendment rights.” - Bernie Sanders, 2019

[-] catonkatonk@hexbear.net 29 points 12 hours ago

I saw him answer that question by saying that he's against sanctions on principle, look at how much damage they're doing to Cuba etc. Unreal.

[-] edge@hexbear.net 22 points 12 hours ago

Even though he voted for sanctions on official bad guy countries like Russia and Venezuela.
