Reads like it's carefully crafted to ingratiate himself to all major groups of american society. There's something in here for everyone to claim him as their own.

One thing that I think Luigi is very good at, which was included in his choice of targets which was just about the most perfect target in all of society to choose, is his instincts for public image and optics. He has very good instincts for what people will support and what people will not support.

Yes and the best way to do that is to act like the canonised saint of the church of luigi. Behave like Queen Elizabeth used to behave, say stuff that appeals to everyone and all groups but say it in a way that is distant and pope-ly. Proclaim it. Like a spiritual leader.

That's how I imagine he'll be going forwards. His goal is going to be to do what is most likely to get him to freedom and then afterwards it's going to be whatever is most likely to keep him free. Even if he wanted to admit being left wing he couldn't(it would be stupid to do so), so he can't be useful to the left in any way, only the act carried out can be useful.

I can't get an accurate ideological read on him. Like you said it's very calculated to appeal to everyone, like another user said he's such a fucking redditor. I like that Luigi challenges my opinions on adventurism but I don't think he has the political education to make a coherent message on top of his praxis. Hopefully post-trial he gains some more leftist footing regardless of the verdict.

If he's not already buried in leftist theory I think this whole event will swallow him up and turn his ideological beliefs into an even bigger cocktail of incoherence. The attention and the mess of voices from all directions and support from ALL aspects of society will work together to keep him from falling into an ideological group.

If his support was primarily coming from communists and anarchists then he would be much more likely to start learning leftist theory, but because he's got complete and total support I don't think that will happen.

Consider Greta, I made the judgement a long time ago that she'd fall in with us because all the activities she was doing would lead her into proximity with leftists and if she was sincere in her pursuit of fighting climate change she would inevitably fall in with Marxists. The way the right and liberals would get mad at her only accelerated that, the support she got from our direction vs the hate she got from the other helped ensure she learned from the left. That's just not the case here with Luigi.

He's a useful symbol but should be kept away from being a thought-leader.

Greta is exactly the kind of person I have in mind when I think about Luigi. I knew the right hated her in weird pathological ways, but it seemed like the liberal establishment was handing her a career as the official Climate Change Child if she towed the line. There was real material incentive for her to remain liberal even if her immediate circumstances should propel her leftward. I was surprised she overcame that background to be as radical as she is.

Luigi is a fancylad who experienced Joker (2019). Now he's a celebrity slave who's popular with most normal people. I could be pro-Luigi with any random coworker and they'd probably agree with a story about how a similar company killed their relative. I think being forced into an environment of extreme proletarianisation should make him more of a leftist in perspective at least, but neither he nor Greta in her liberal darling moment could say what Greta can in 2025 and keep their relevancy. It'd be nice if he learned from his experience and at least became a useful symbol with some quotes. His background and current broad appeal both push him toward this reddit-coded liberalism.

Yeah I mostly agree. I will caveat and say that if he pisses off the right people by saying the wrong things then that could propel him towards the remaining supporters in the left that continue to support him even after he pisses off the liberals and the right.

He's going to completely avoid that until after the trial though. And even after the trial there will be a pressure upon him to be a middle-of-the-road preacher of non-violence because he's never going to want to risk this being dug up again even with double-jeopardy or whatever the rules are I wouldn't risk it.

All pressure currently exists pre-trial and will continue to exist upon him post-trial to have an image of being a non-violent american patriot. That is what is in his best interests and the most likely road he'll go down. Yeah maybe some of that will be "tax the rich" at some point but he won't be able to go further.
