“Years ago, I became more and more appalled at the progressive—whether it’s ‘Abolish ice’ or ‘Defund the police’—all these kinds of bizarre, boutique views. Like, here’s another toy for Republicans to play with!”

this is the guy people touted as a good progressive

here’s another toy for Republicans to play with!”

What to make of this? The Dems pretty consistently seem to view policy demands from the electorate as a bad faith attack on them that only serves their enemy. They don't seem to think that they have any responsibility to implement policy that would benefit their constituents. They also seem to think that their constituents are supposed to know their place by dutifully voting and otherwise remaining silent.

Their attitude towards voters is truly insane. The snide condescension and belief that voters have a duty to vote for Democrats, and Democrats have absolutely no duties whatsoever.

My boutique view is that I think John Settlerman should be publicly executed. In uh, Raid Shadow Legends.

[-] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

honestly "stroke patient who dresses like a 16 year old and can't stop watching tiktoks while he drives" is a pretty good toy for the right

We were mesmerized by his large adult son glamour^*^ which may have been related to the large number of us that imprinted on Shrek.

^*^ "Glamour" in the "enchantment" or "magical charm"/"illusion" sense, like how a vampire lures in its prey by claiming to be progressive, but really just wants your people-juice. Not in the "hngggg, that Steelers hoodie is so glamorous, yinz! It's making me all slippy" sense.

Not here, but I saw demsocs basically pretend to ignore his very pro-Zionism stances. Which they had an easier time getting away with before October 7th.

Seeing Fetterman described as "left-of-center" caused my spirit to temporarily leave my body.

[-] jack@hexbear.net 18 points 4 months ago

The center is Eichmann

[-] Elon_Musk@hexbear.net 42 points 4 months ago

When I asked him whether he had any concerns about the way in which Israel’s right-wing Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, was conducting the war, he answered with a shrug. “I’ve never rendered judgment on him, because he is the leader, he is the democratically elected leader,”

Dude would have been a great medieval jail oaf. "'E's the king 'e is, so shut yer gob less y'wanna meet the rack." Hacks on floor, tucks keyring into big leather belt, whistles for lazy jail bloodhound

[-] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 39 points 4 months ago

Ugh, I skimmed way too much of that article. Sending my energy to Comrade Stroke.

[-] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 31 points 4 months ago

Calling the heart and stroke foundation and asking what services they offer.

[-] CommunistBear@hexbear.net 11 points 4 months ago

Yeah, same. I read the first couple bits but after realizing how long it is, I tapped out. I don't care enough about the dude to read more than I already did

“I just cannot understand how someone capable of such empathy for the victims of violence in Braddock has none for the tens of thousands of Palestinian children who are also victims of violence.”

us-foreign-policy

Now Trump was competitive in the polls and the left’s invective was directed at Fetterman. “We are in a mad season of the Democratic Party,” he said. “We are turning against ourselves instead of realizing that we don’t have the luxury of fucking around.”

the-democrat

I can't believe I ever thought a good thought about this guy.

Like, nothing has blackpilled me more than this situation.

[-] SnowySkyes@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

The thing about Braddock, which even further blows my mind, is that it's not a white neighborhood. That's even taking North Braddock into consideration.

On a cool, sunny evening in April, John Fetterman, the junior senator from ….

Oh fuck I stopped right there.

[-] Thordros@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

You get used to it. New Yorker writers are contractually obligated to start every political puff piece that way.

[-] VILenin@hexbear.net 17 points 4 months ago

I love how every liberal “journalist” stretches what should’ve been a 200 word summary into a thousand page book that dedicates an entire chapter to the wacky way they tie their shoes in the morning.

[-] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 17 points 4 months ago

"At Oktoberfest, it was the best of times; it was the wurst of times. John Fetterman, the hulking junior Senator from Pennsylvania, grinned as he heaped coleslaw and french fries atop a mound of sausage. 'You gotta open the throat,' he opined with a twinkle in his eye. Nothing could have prepared me for what came next. "

"Nothing could have prepared me for what came next: John Fetterman."

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

That sounds like the opening line from a very bad novel.

[-] Sted@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago

Journalists are pretty much all failed authors so that makes sense.

[-] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 4 months ago

Well, it COULD be a very good novel

Pause

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

Lathe time?

TMZ announcer: "The Pulitzer Prize wining novel Fohn Jetterman has been green lit for an HBO miniseries. Journalist Benjamin Wallace who wrote the novel and who has no showbiz experience will be directing eight episode project. It's rumored to have a 200 million dollar budget. Wait - we thought this was boring political stuff. What's up with that yuge budget? Are there superheroes up in this joint? What's goin' on here?! The TMZ Investigative Team is on the scene..."

Ogressive politics

[-] citrussy_capybara@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

He compared himself to the Joker. “It’s like in ‘Batman’—the original one, with Jack Nicholson,” he said. “I’ve already been dead once. It’s very liberating.”

jokerfication

[-] hotcouchguy@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

He should try it again

[-] AndJusticeForAll@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago

I think about that scene where Michael Keaton is screaming "Now you wanna' get nuts! Come on, let's get nuts!" and pulls out a sword to fight the joker.

“We are in a mad season of the Democratic Party,” he said. “We are turning against ourselves instead of realizing that we don’t have the luxury of fucking around.”

Remember, it’s only the party turning against itself when it’s the left wing of the party criticizing the center. When it’s the other way around, that’s called “being the adults in the room,” sweaty.

Since October 7th, the news from Israel and Palestine has been unremittingly grim. For lawmakers in Washington, it has also been vexing, since they are being held responsible for a situation over which they have little direct control.

Yeah those arms packages just write themselves into being.
