It's enough that it's got the talking heads on the msm spinning it that it is, which is why I brought it up.
I wouldn't trust them, or local police. Afaik the FBI is the least sketchy source of crime stats, and then maybe there are some independent researchers that are okayish.

I think it is slightly but it’s up from being the lowest of all time
I don't know about crime generally, but retail has seen dramatic staffing cuts and as a result, shoplifting is up for sure. No data, just reporting from the ground. It's not a problem when they're subtle, but the assholes who push you around to get to the liquor are stressful.
It's hard to generalize, but I think violent crime is falling from the recent spike, while property crime is stable or even up a little (shoplifting, as you said).

You almost have to admire, in a sickening way, the insane way the US co-opted an anti-police racial equality movement. They were able to use it to justify even more police funding! It drives me insane that most americans will fall for this every single time.
