thesis: California is worst

antithesis: Texas is worst

synthesis: Yankkkees are the worst and those are the two largest subdivisions of them

[-] coeliacmccarthy@hexbear.net 38 points 2 months ago

every kind of american is the most annoying person but they're up there

[-] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 35 points 2 months ago
[-] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

Floridians at least have that wacko redneck charm to them.

[-] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

Don’t forget the gusano contingent

[-] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 months ago

Gusanos, elderly, rednecks and Scientologists all packed into a drained swamp land full of gators... probably fine

"It's sugar, man!"

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 32 points 2 months ago

After 40+ years in California, specifically around the "nice" part of it that tech bazingas flocked to and gentrified since the 90s, I can say...

If they're not the most annoying, they are definitely up there with smug insufferable emptiness that is stuffed with treats and fad-chasing. Ever meet a woman whose personality was "yoga, wine, and tormenting retail/restaurant workers?" Ever meet a man whose personality was "bibeo bame and P R E S T I G E T V?"

Strong contenders for annoying people contests.

After 40+ years in California

UlyssesT is Californian, the hypothesis is reinforced!

jk ulysses this is meant in well intended jest, I'm on the pro-UlyssesT postin' train

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago

The ribbing is well received... and maybe well deserved.

It may take years for all of that second-hand wine country snobbery and liberal pretentiousness to fully wash out. sweat

second-hand wine country snobbery and liberal pretentiousness

I've never thought that of your posts, imo I think you just have an energy and intensity that might rub some people the wrong way sometimes, but that's okay because it's just you being you and not vibing with their vibes, it's not an annoying thing or something to overly think over and feel bad about. Can't please everyone, so whatever, haters

again, i think you're a valuable addition to the site and I'm glad you're back postin', although I hope that isn't at the expense of your touch-grassy intentions when you engaged in your recent Long Log-Off

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

I appreciate the vote of confidence.

although I hope that isn't at the expense of your touch-grassy intentions

Sometimes it can be, I admit! Fortunately, this is an easygoing time at the moment (which is why I decided to log in again recently), but I better not get too addicted to posting. It may take hold of me, and I would resent its absence.

Texans. I say this as a dumbass from Texas.

[-] Hello_Kitty_enjoyer@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

death to (and I cannot stress this enough) ALL of America

[-] The_Jewish_Cuban@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

The only time I actually felt judged for being from bum fuck nowhere was when talking to a Californian. They reek of holier than thou

[-] Rod_Blagojevic@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

I got judged by a San Franciscan for being from Chicago.

[-] Smeagolicious@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

Overheard californian family in Chicago talking about the great lakes "well they're nice but they're no ocean"

I met a lot of people from a lotta places in the US. I met a lot of people from Texas. maybe a half dozen of them weren't in dire need of an ass kicking.

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago

Florida seems worse

[-] the_itsb@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago

I'm from Ohio, we literally gave you JD Vance, what more do you want from us to prove that we are the actual worst? couch-fucking competitions at the state fair? MORE sanctimonious lectures? piles of corncobs and cholesterol?

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Ohio gave us the perfected version of this meme at least.

[-] peeonyou@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I've lived in many states and ohio is the worst one.. it's more redneck than actual rural farm states like the dakotas

[-] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

You could be from the state that gave the American electoral system Sarah Palin.

[-] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

Is Ohio known for hot couches, or is that another place?

All American's are fairly equally annoying.

[-] peeonyou@hexbear.net 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

maybe, but definitely the most self-centered you'll find anywhere

people in CA literally act as if they're the only person who exists in the whole world, all the time, by default

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

California has the most annoying yuppies, but not the most annoying overall.

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

Yes. It's partially the accent but everything else doesn't help.

[-] viva_la_juche@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

one of my clients has a contract with a guy out there and we always give him shit for his accent by doing that cartoonish snl skit voice. "Just get on the 101 and let it drop you off where you belong!"

[-] BobDole@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago

Do not get on the 101. It has traffic jams at 3 AM.

[-] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 months ago

Not up here (Eureka) it doesn't!

[-] BobDole@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

My bad, I forgot there was a California outside of LA

Speaking as a Californian

Yes

[-] Flyberius@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

Yeah. The accent is the worst. And if you meet one outside of America you are guaranteed to have found a particularly ripe specimen

[-] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

Repeat after me:

"Melk."

"Pellow."

[-] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

Some of the most annoying people in the world are Californians, but in my own experience they're statistical outliers and should not be counted.

Otherwise "most annoying people" is such a broad, non-specific category that you could make a case for basically any group of 2 or more people being the most annoying. I'm personally annoyed by Seppophilic Norwegians and by Seppos in Norway, and I doubt anybody else is gonna mention those types of people.

There is a reason "Ohio" became a meme, just saying. But still I'd pick a random Ohio person over a CA person.

[-] the_itsb@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

as an Ohioan, I will enthusiastically concur

we are the worst

just look at us

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

One of my favorite Skyrim mods turns the dragons in the game into flying fire-breathing geographic Ohio state models.

I just got back from Oregon, and that was pretty annoying. Maybe Oregon is just a moon of California so it doesn't really count to treat them as separate phenomena.

[-] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

Depends on if it's the Portland side, or out east where it's mostly a bunch of Idaho-adjacent white supremacists

No, I am the most annoying person

[-] heartheartbreak@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

Aha so like where is minneapolis? Is that a state or a cityy

[-] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

I mean, I can't judge, if I'd not seen one with me eyes...

[-] fubarx@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 months ago

God, I hope so!
