This election really isn't about who can win it, but who can not manage to lose it. Seems like both parties are trying desperately to throw the election

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 29 points 3 days ago

trump-moist has the advantage there because he can say the most clownish shit possible and his clown followers will honk along to it anyway. See the "eating pets" shit lately.

[-] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 25 points 3 days ago

I really have no clue who's going to end up winning in November, I thought trump had a runaway victory after he got shot but Biden being ousted mixed it up. Trump's biggest mistake was agreeing to a Biden debate before he was locked in, of he hadn't done that he'd have it in the bag

See the "eating pets" shit lately.

Oh my god my fucking chud coworker was talking to the chef about that. At least when I said "i don't fucking care about any of that shit, even if it's true and people are eating cats or dogs or whatever that don't mean dick all to my life, things like my rent going up every damn year do" they both agreed

[-] footfaults@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago

Honestly, I'm not so sure. Kamala has said some equally clownish shit, it just takes a bit more to realize how incredibly stupid it is

New great depression is upon us and neither party desires blame for governing during it

Shit. I think you're right.

[-] autismdragon@hexbear.net 15 points 3 days ago

Well, for a second there it seemed like the Democrats were trying to win. Then they pulled a "thats enough effort for this election cycle".

[-] AndJusticeForAll@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago

Isn't that the plot of a movie?

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 26 points 3 days ago

To trump-anguish 's credit he didn't post cringe about dae le cat protection or offer to impregnate her, so there's that.

let-them-fight

[-] RoabeArt@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

But he did bring up the pet thing on a nationally televised debate though. "They're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats!"

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago

But his hate for Taylor Swift is pure, that's my point. It's unsullied by breeding fetishes unlike my-hero

[-] RoabeArt@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago

Oh shit I completely misread your comment lmao. I thought you meant in general and not directed at Taylor.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

S'all good.

I mean according to some polls the Taylor Swift endorsement negatively effected Harris. I think she's been overexposed to pretty much everyone. And logically it makes sense. The vast majority of Taylor Swift's audience (young women) are voting for Harris anyways. The Democrats already have secured that demographic, they need to appeal to other groups of people to win. So I guess this isn't as bad as it seems for Trump.

[-] rubpoll@hexbear.net 25 points 3 days ago

In 2016, every celebrity in America begged the population to vote for Hillary. It didn't make a lick of difference.

i-think-that Killary was so fucking unlikeable that she may have had a significantly worse showing and lost by even more votes without those endorsements.

[-] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yeah that's my point. A lot of the die hard fans of said celebs are voting Democrat anyways. So these endorsements don't get them any more votes, they just serve to try energise the Democratic base. In fact, I'd even argue that such endorsements (by celebrities of Democrats or Republicans) can easily backfire by energising the opposition or putting off those on the fence.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago

Celebrity involvement in politics causes negative results in the UK too.

It's not the specific celebrity, it's celebrities in general. People do not want to get their political advice from celebs. They actually find it really offensive that they weigh in or try to use their status to influence people at all.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 9 points 3 days ago

By contrast, I read somewhere that only the Jake Paul/Paul Logan chud ouroboros had a lower negative overall effect in surveys asking about celebrity endorsements than my-hero yet trump-anguish 's ratings remain roughly where they already were. The cult's that dedicated.

[-] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

Yeah Musk's endorsement also makes sense as for why it would be a negative for Trump. The vast majority of Musk diehards (edgy young men) are voting Republican, the Republicans need to appeal to other groups of people to win. Same with regards to Swift's audience also already majority voting Democrat, and needing to appeal to other groups of people to win.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 14 points 3 days ago

The vast majority of Musk diehards (edgy young men)

I know from personal experience and decades of living around Silicon Valley that a lot of E~L~O~N diehards are aging gen-x junior boomers that peaked in the 90s and still think South Park is amazing.

[-] Chronicon@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago

this is true in the midwest too, at least in the past 5 years, idk if they liked him early on

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago

Some may have went further rightward when their "just joking about (slurs) why are you so thin skinned why aren't you laughing" frustrations got worse and worse.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 23 points 3 days ago

Yeah man I'm sure a young woman is going to want to vote for the guy who took her reproductive health away. Yes, yes I know it's for Kamala, but tf does Trump offer to women who don't want the handmaid's tale?

[-] MemesAreTheory@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

Self-loathing is a hell of a drug, and white women like the superiority and privilege that comes with their status under white-supremacist patriarchal structures.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

Temptations to be "the good one" for profit or adoration are a thing. death-to-the-poor

[-] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 3 days ago

I think they call those "pick-me"s now

[-] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Even "progressive" white women will have blind spots. They'll turn into the most rabid of fascists when it comes to foreign policy or have serious hang ups regarding LGBTQ+ people.

It'd be remiss, though, to ignore there being a good chance the leader of the white patriarchy will be a mixed woman of color. Isn't living in the rainbow Weimer Republic fun?

[-] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

the leader

The President of the United States is probably just as ceremonial as Zaphod Beeblebrox at this point — to draw attention from the true rulers of the US. They seem to do great at that.

[-] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

but tf does Trump offer to women who don't want the handmaid's tale

from experience... it's just culture war addicted fascists or plain old indoctrinated from birth religious conservatism

[-] 666PeaceKeepaGirl@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago

This post almost got Trump killed. So much for the tolerant left

"Old Man" Trump, who is broke now after having to pay for so many sexual harassment lawsuits, thinks he can help his awful poll numbers by tweeting about me. Sad! The only "Taylor" he should be worried about is one to fix his poorly cut suits. Let me know if you need a "loan" from a real star, Donald!

[-] Mantikora@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago

This is the most childish thing I ever saw online.
