We got nothing from the Dems, so the only thing that remains for us to do is what we always said we will do no matter what - vote for Harris.

"It's not a vote for Kamala; it's a vote against Trump!"

Okay, if you're against both, then vote against both then?

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 40 points 1 month ago

"No we have to vote against trump tho" only-throw

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 72 points 1 month ago (1 children)

shrug-outta-hecks voting PSL machine go brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

[–] aspensmonster@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 month ago

Not me standing at the driveway to my polling center with a signature PSL sign (our signs really are the best; call us Professional Signs League the way we be pissing off interns that have to censor our signs before putting them on their articles and videos and ads).

I genuinely do not understand this lib talking point of "a vote is not an endorsement." It literally is! What, it doesn't count as supporting them if you feel bad when you do it?? Politicians could not give less of a shit.

These geniuses just completely destroyed any capacity they might have to make credible threats in the future, and proved that anyone treating them as unserious was correct.

[–] autismdragon@hexbear.net 43 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Politicians could not give less of a shit.

This is the part that I didnt get about this for a long time. I mean I knew it, but i didnt make the connection in my brain.

All I understood is that in my mind I wasnt voting for all the evil things they do, I was voting for the marginal differences. That was the point of my vote in my mind.

It didnt occur to me until like late last year (yes, that late) that this doesnt materially matter because thats not how the politican takes it. They take it as an endorsement of every action they take.

For this reason, I'm sympathetic to people still stuck in that rut.

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I never had it with voting but admittedly the same kind of logic held me back from going vegan for a long time, like, "I feel bad about eating meat so that makes it less bad when I do it, somehow."

A vote is not an endorsement.

Yeah i don’t like Ted Bundy, but i would lend a kitchen knife to him for his meal with his date

[–] miz@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

(cw: prescriptivism) language learner stuffalthough not all native English speakers are consistent on this of course, and I understood what you meant, in this situation you may want to use "lend" for 借. a mnemonic that might help is "borrow from, lend to"— a sort of checksum for this mnemonic is that the words are in alphabetical order. (not trying to be annoying, hoping you will also correct my Mandarin)

[–] Fishroot@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

Corrected! Thanks!

[–] RION@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The silliest thing is that elected officials literally use their vote numbers as endorsements! Right up until he dropped out Brandon was using the 2020 popular vote to say that people backed his policies.

No politician worth their salt would ignore such an easy way to claim legitimacy, and especially not because you said pretty-please don't take this as an endorsement of your genocidal actions

Trump, saying he'd "accelerate the killing in Gaza"

bull-fucking-shit. none of these genocide-excusing scumbags can ever explain how he would do this, other than making it harder for liberals to pretend it's justified. the same arms and funding will still be sent, and if "Israel" could kill 2x more they would already be doing it. this is a pathetic excuse by people willing to throw others into the meatgrinder if it means they can stay comfortable on the couch.

How many Americans still believe in that bullshit death toll figure thats been stuck for nearly a year but mandem still on this narrative.

[–] TheLepidopterists@hexbear.net 30 points 1 month ago

Even when we got to 30k originally it felt like an undercount. There's been massacre after massacre since then and it feels like there's just no one left to keep accurate records. They blew up most of the hospitals.

The Uncommited to palestine movement kelly

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 55 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So they are encouraging us to not vote for a president at all? I'm okay with that.

[–] WIIHAPPYFEW@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No cause you’ve got to vote against Trump (but not via Kamala or via any non-Kamala/Trump option) by giving your vote to uh

Hm

Hey can someone check if we’re supposed to vote for Kamala via the write-in box real quick

[–] HamManBad@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Write in Joe Biden, anything else is a vote for Trump

[–] Tomboymoder@hexbear.net 47 points 1 month ago

I hate this country

[–] Dimmer06@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"We're against the genocide candidate but if you vote for an anti-genocide candidate then you're actually supporting the genocide" -smartest American liberal

[–] space_comrade@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 43 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Dems know that their base would still fall in line even if they pissed in their hair and shat in their mouth and made them lick their boots clean, they know that if a genocide isn’t enough to dissuade them, nothing is.

They could have one half executed for fun and the other half would still vote for them.

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 34 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

"Trump would have executed all of us so the Dems are still better!"

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

And the GOP voters are the same way. Ugh I hate this

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago

Can't say I'm not disappointed.

Can't say I'm surprised.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

tfw you have to balance your career in dem circles and credibility among decent people. Surprised they didn't fold completely (also its slightly misleading title, more like non-endorsed endorsed) intercept article

[–] pinguinu@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Uncommitted said that while the group would not endorse Harris, it continues to oppose a Donald Trump presidency and is not recommending a third-party vote in the presidential election for fear that it could inadvertently boost Trump’s advantage in the Electoral College. The group urged uncommitted voters to cast anti-Trump votes up and down the ballot.

“For months, we have urged Vice President Harris to shift her Gaza policy so we could mobilize voters in key states to save lives and our democracy,” the group said in the Thursday morning statement. “The DNC and the Vice President’s campaign fumbled even a small gesture to unite our party ahead of November by rejecting the simple request for a American speaker.”

Damn that's really the best libs can come up with? Truly pitiful

edit: I don't know what I was thinking, they're democrats after all

[–] cricbuzz@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I am once again doing Lawrence O'Donnel posting

If you want to pull the major party that is closest to what you’re thinking, you must-YOU MUST-show them that you’re capable of NOT voting for them. If you don’t show them you’re capable of not voting for them, they don’t have to listen to you. I promise you that. I worked within the Democratic Party. I didn’t listen or have to listen to anything on the left while I was working within the Democratic Party, because the left had nowhere to go.

If you're going to waste your time voting, vote against Trump by voting 3rd party or go to hell.

[–] Fishroot@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Uncommitted movement is really like the customer service apologizing to you and handing you coupons for the next purchase when you call to complain how the company’s self cleaning litter-box transformed your pet into charcuterie

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago

Absolutely pathetic.

The radlibs outed themselves the day Joe Biden had a good day on super tuesday 2020. They threw their hands up in the air, gave up, and started being good little cucks for the libs.

[–] aspensmonster@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The radlibs outed themselves the day Joe Biden had a good day on super tuesday 2020.

It wasn't so much Joe Biden having a good day as it was Obama, making all the calls necessary for the other neolibs to fall in line (and perhaps for the other "progressive" to stay in the race).

It would be commitment of a sort to grow a backbone, respect for staying true to their non-principles

[–] qaopjlll@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Libs pushing the "voting 3rd party helps Trump" narrative so hard makes me wonder if they're going to introduce legislation that actually causes all 3rd party votes to count as a vote for the Republican candidate.

[–] hypercracker@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Mostly the dems are trying to use the courts to kick third parties off the ballot in swing states. It's going all the way to the supreme court in Georgia. But the dems love democracy, of course.

[–] WIIHAPPYFEW@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Jokes on yall, I was gonna vote for [SYNTAX ERROR] from the very start

Listened to KYE and they had two uncommitted apparatchiks on and they gave an hour spiel about how the party led them on and ghosted them at the convention, and I couldnt stomach finishing the thing, but you could just tell how big of an L they took given that they didn't even get to save face w the crumb of a speaker, and wanted to vent, but will have to just suck it up and eat all the shit if they want to maintain any power in the party.

Big, I'll keep drinking that garbage, energy.
