  1. trans rights have not been protected under Biden, and have begun to be stripped away without any backlash
  2. didn't codify Roe, now it's dead under him
  3. Ha, Biden loves oil
  4. People still go bankrupt due to medical debt
  5. He's trying to sanction a cure for diabetes because it's more profitable to treat than it is cure.
  6. it got shot down, Biden still owes me over 10,000 dollars
  7. not enough busses, not enough trains.
  8. literally supported segregation
  9. just repeating bullet points with different wording for filler
  10. covid is being swept under the rug as if it no longer exists, and a new bird flu is likely brewing in addition to that due to our fucked up food industry.
  11. cant even legalize weed. Maybe he'll free a couple high profile black people before the election though.
  12. yes
  13. define "ceasefire"

REAL CHANGE IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!! WE JUST NEED TO VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATS FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME

football-lucy

[-] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 51 points 4 months ago

Just because literally every liberal president during your lifetime was a disappointment at best doesn't mean the next one will be too wojak-nooo

[-] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 33 points 4 months ago

Even if those liberal politicians had the best of intentions, what do they have to say for the fact they have done NOTHING to resist the white ruling class’ SIX DECADE LONG TEMPER TANTRUM over the civil rights act? Hell, Biden did nothing about the oil cartels raising prices together as one likely as protest over a non-republican in office.

[-] Zuzak@hexbear.net 91 points 4 months ago

"You have to vote for Biden for now, but once we get ranked choice voting you can vote third party."

"Oh, does Biden support ranked choice voting then?"

"No."

Canadian Obama literally ran on ending FPTP, pretended to evaluate the alternatives, then said there was no consensus on which alternative to switch to so why bother.

Changing election systems means power giving up the path by which it got to power. Guess how likely that is.

[-] Dimmer06@hexbear.net 26 points 4 months ago

RCV/instant runoff doesn't actually create opportunities for third parties either. Plenty of places use it and still have duopolies or single party rule. There's also fptp systems that have multiple parties engaged in government.

It's almost like political power doesn't flow from votes.

So....how's those Trans rights and DEI doing under Biden?

Nearly 100,000 transgender youth live in states that banned access to health care, sports, or school bathrooms in 2023

Over 20 states banned medical care for transgender people.

Over 400 anti LGBTQ laws proposed 2023

Over 300 in 2024 just in January

Hate Crimes Against Queer and Trans Students Quadrupled in States With Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws

Healthcare reform? What healthcare reform? A single drug? OMG M4A AT LONG LAST!

Majority of debtors to US hospitals now people with health insurance how's that obama-socialism Obamacare doing? Still want to keep kicking the can pn actual reforms?

Meanwhile in super commie land PRC-emblem

Chinese scientists cure diabetes using stem cells in world first

Infrastructure? agony-shivering we just had another damn fail. Every month are stories of major structural and systemic failures. It's been a joke. Meanwhile some-controversy is actually doing great works, high speed rail, and modern architectural achievements. We aren't building shit anymore.

Biden's Green Mold Deal isn't even enough to keep up with the damage done by climate enhanced storms. It is 1/10th of a limited period of even begining to address what we need to do.

Loan forgiveness? Oh you mean all the people who you say qualify but when they apply you deny them or say "oh..it's only a small part. We didn't mean everything if you qualify....oh and then you had to have had the money paying on that debt...so if you couldn't pay or if your debt is recent, then maybe-later-kiddo welcome to pragmatism honey"

Denied Student Loan Forgiveness? Biden Administration Unveils Appeal Process

big-honk WHERE IS THE COMPARISON FOR THE GREEN PARTY? or the PSL

WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF? honk-commie

[-] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 41 points 4 months ago

And even their shitty save loan forgiveness is getting blocked by courts. He's really doing a lot there

Oh, you expect Biden to do anything about the red states banning trans existence? Those are STATE ISSUES!

Also, yes, Biden does indeed have the ability to completely bypass Congress on matters of sending colossal amounts of weaponry to states actively wiping out millions of people. That's just how things landed! The system just happens to be this way! Total inability to do good things and not even vague oversight when doing bad things! If you think this is bad, then vote! ...nobody is running against changing those systematic issues except third parties, and the two parties have no reason to change this and many, MANY reasons to keep the current system intact, and we have no real way to exert power over them due to our refusal to even withdraw our votes let alone take major co-ordinated national action, but...

[-] imogen_underscore@hexbear.net 49 points 4 months ago

also "american democracy" mentioned wowee this is an all timer

Reminds me of in 2020 I saw a post detailing Elizabeth Warren's platforms and one of the bulletpoints was simply "Healthcare"

  1. Trans rights will keep getting better in blue states who give a shit and worse in red states regardless of who is president
  2. Last time I checked, Biden is doing nothing about abortion, again, blue states who give a shit will do what they do no matter who is president
  3. Yeah Trump is probably gonna be worse, but Biden isn't doing any meaningful reform
  4. See above
  5. No clue, so can't comment
  6. lmao
  7. LMAO
  8. Just kill me already
  9. Probably better than Trump, but I think the bar for that is 6ft underground
  10. What the fuck does this even mean? Also, like, no? Biden has completely ignored COVID.
  11. Sounds unlikely 12 and 13 are mutually exclusive. You can't militarily support a genocide while also being in favor of ending said genocide.

Worse in some blue states too. Washington state dems passed a forced outing law, although a judge just stopped it.

Being able to distinguish between things the Biden admin has paid lip service to and the things the Biden administration has actually meaningfully changed challenge. Level: Easy, Result: Abject Failure

[-] Chronicon@hexbear.net 65 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Tumblr is seemingly full of the least materialist-minded liberals you've ever seen. The entire framing of "you have to vote based on what the candidates claim to support" even if they were honest about it, is on its face a shit idea when BOTH CANDIDATES HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT, AND ONE HAS BEEN IN CONGRESS FOR 11,000 YEARS BEFORE THAT

THEY HAVE TRACK RECORDS

[-] axont@hexbear.net 47 points 4 months ago

Liberals in general treat politics as prayer and ritual to a pantheon of polytheistic gods. You must perform the Biden voting sacrament or else the nefarious Putin will ruin this year's grape harvest.

Chart isn't even right, way to generous to Biden specifically

[-] Adkml@hexbear.net 30 points 4 months ago

Yea I'm not sure how they haven't figured out that posting these charts or pre written walls of text and having anybody who isn't already blue Maga go "bullshit, bullshit, bullshit" to all their claims about Biden just makes them think the person who posted it is a fucking liar, and they're currently talking about how great Biden is.

Biden's policy "wins" always sound like when my boss makes me write performance review bullet points for myself when I haven't finished a damn project all year, so it's a bunch of "spearheaded exploratory efforts to design and implement _______" and "provided technical expertise for [re-]architecture of ______" bullshit that, in the end, amounts to "I tried but you motherfuckers wouldn't let me because you hurled 80% of the team's support tickets my way without even attempting to share those efforts amongst the other devs," except Genocide Joe doesn't even have that excuse.

Burned-out nerd rantI'm not even joking about the support workload vs. time spent on project work shit. Case in point, I finished modernizing a fairly critical process last August and it still hasn't been promoted to our Prod environment because the primary stakeholder has been "too busy" to sign off on it. The usual turnaround for something like that is like a week or two, tops, and none of the core functionality even changed. It was about 75% throwaway work when they requested it two years ago, and it's probably getting chucked out at the end of next quarter. Love burning 160+ labor hours on cleaning up coworkers' garbage-tier code just to be able to extend a piece of software without breaking a bunch of other shit, all because the middle management fiefdom think that "160 hour estimate" means "it will be done in exactly one month" and don't even question why a "trivial" change has a one-labor-month estimate tacked onto it.

I can't believe that I've lasted as long as I have at this place. Turnover under my previous supervisor was a huge red flag right out of the gate, but at least he has moved over to a different section to go be a disorganized, out-of-touch bougie doofus over there. The damage is already done, though, both in terms of toxic team/org dynamics and my own mental health.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk a-guy

Yes I am a single-issue voter. My single issue is that I don’t vote for people who are actively committing a genocide.

These little assholes know they’re not changing anyone’s minds. Deep down they probably want to see Biden lose so they can spend the next four years feeling smug on the internet that themselves, the good upstanding liberals that are, advocated for Biden but those evil horseshoe tankies got Trump elected. The feelings of moral superiority is what they crave, but they also know the left has the morally superior position (and it kills them that we don’t even care about being “morally superior”).

Edit: I want to tell one of these nerds who makes these charts: “Death to America, I love humanity infinitely more than I do this country. So add a few foreign policy issues like “forcing Ukrainians into a meat grinder”. Then weight domestic versus foreign issues in proportion to the population of the US versus RoW, and then see how the points shake out.

[-] SeventyTwoTrillion@hexbear.net 34 points 4 months ago

My single issue is that I don’t vote for people who are actively committing a genocide.

If I ever have kids, I would so fucking disgusted with myself if they asked me what I was doing during the Palestine Genocide and I said "...I voted for the person carrying out the genocide." I can't even imagine. It's like if you were German and your parent or grandparent did nothing during the Holocaust; you'd be so ashamed to be associated with them.

LOL Operation Warp Speed was a Trump initiative. This list is entirely vibes-based.

[-] fox@hexbear.net 38 points 4 months ago

Trans rights: rights to what? Medical care? Protection from discrimination? Another commenter pointed out the massive surge in anti-trans rhetoric, hate crimes, and hate laws during Biden's regime

Abortion access: Roe v Wade ended during Biden regime, no attempts made to enshrine abortion as law or protect existing abortion providers or act against state level anti-abortion laws

Environmental reform: oil & gas extraction has never been higher than under Biden, and Biden has allowed extraction on an unprecedented amount of previously protected land

Prescription reform: Insulin is price capped for some. People still die from lack of access due to cost

Loan forgiveness: What forgiveness? You'd think if people were getting their loans forgiven the regime would be blasting the airwaves about it to lock in voters that also want to alleviate their debt

Infrastructure funding: Of the billions provided, most has vanished into thin air by way of layers of consultants, corruption, and inability to manufacture anything without ten middlemen skimming. The practical result is that very little has been done, and most of it is toxic car infrastructure

Advocating racial equity: advocating something isn't the same as actually enacting laws to mandate it. Biden also advocates for Bibi to bomb less but keeps giving him more bombs

DEI: this is racial equity again

Vaccines & public health: Biden ended free vaccination programs and told the CDC to stop monitoring COVID, and has had seemingly no interest in taking preemptive action against the developing bird flu crisis

Criminal justice reform: He pardoned the like, 10 people on federal weed charges and rescheduled it down from heroin to meth level

Military support to Israel: this is bad, it's bad he's doing this

Ceasefire: He could compel the ceasefire with one phone call and hasn't done a thing beyond telling Bibi to please try to bomb fewer children, please sir

[-] Egon@hexbear.net 34 points 4 months ago

I find it frustrating how libs seem to think that people won't vote for Biden because they disagree on one simple thing.
People won't vote for Biden because he fails ALL the items on that list, but because Trump is so awful they'd still be willing to vote for Biden, if he didn't commit a genocide.
Its not "well he's one item from perfect" it's "Jesus christ, that is it! If you're doing a genocide then there is no difference at all."

[-] Beaver@hexbear.net 34 points 4 months ago

You're not allowed to do anything until we get some Ranked Choice Voting, then were gonna solve everything maybe-later-kiddo

[-] 2812481591@hexbear.net 26 points 4 months ago

Also it's immoral to ever vote for the candidates who support ranked choice voting.

[-] Edamamebean@hexbear.net 28 points 4 months ago

Pisses me off so much how these libs imply that people who are against genocide can't be marginalized. "Your queer, disabled, and marginalized loved ones" give me a fucking break. I AM queer you asshole.

[-] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 28 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Fascists will openly embrace being evil, but liberals love to do all sorts of mental gymnastics to tell leftists “nuh-uh, YOU’RE THE REAL PORKY! I’m the only viable protector of the masses!”

Liberals think intentions are everything.

[-] Angel@hexbear.net 26 points 4 months ago

Me black, queer, trans, and neurodivergent in Florida refusing to support Biden looking at this:

[-] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 26 points 4 months ago

Okay so all Biden has to do is stop the Israel support and he's good, right? That's the point they're trying to make? Only one more step? Should be easy for them, then.

Phew glad we cleared that up.
