It's such a bald faced admission that they don't actually care what he does, it's all performative. The last few years made me understand Nazi Germany a lot more tbh. I (naively in a lib manner) used to not understand how they reached the point of gas chambers and concentration camps and thought it was essentially an aberration and that we could and would take "never again" seriously. Watching the rise of the Fourth Reich (arguments could be made that amerikkka was already the Fourth Reich but I digress) has made it clear to me that the majority of white settlers ~~would be~~ are apathetic to death squads rounding up "undesirables" for mass murder.
