why is your political compass in a wind tunnel??

[–] a_blanqui_slate@hexbear.net 18 points 9 months ago

For certain flow velocities, you can vortex shed an ideology like Posadism.

one of the most jagoff things in amerikkkan politics is the so-called "independent" who still participates in partisan politics the same as everybody else

this is a really weird aerodynamics simulation

[–] Vingst@hexbear.net 23 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Thanks to waves generated in the upper atmosphere, El Niño can disrupt the polar vortex. That, in turn, can cause the jet stream to become more wavy, pushing Arctic air further south.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 19 points 9 months ago

how is Collectivism affected by the Liberty Vortex being pushed towards More Government?

what-the-hell

Someone spent hours on this. I bet they even have like a notepad page or something while they worked on this. I don't know what's on the notepad, it's clearly not their thoughts.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 35 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Because when I think of politically correct politicians, I think of Wilson.

At this point I’ve been exposed to so many of these shitty political compasses, I’ve developed a tolerance to the bad politics, so I’m more upset by the bizarre graphic design choices. What do the blue weather segmented lines mean? Same for the yellow-green circle. The Tropic of Cancer-esque lines are completely redundant. It’s like the creator knew this shit was shallow garbage and added a bunch of superfluous elements to create the illusion of complexity. With no regard to a consistent design scheme, of course.

some people are so pissed at the UN they still trying to fight the ghost of the preceding organization

Don’t besmirch the science of Time Cube be comparing it to this. This shit only wishes it could have four time corners of a 96 hour full day.

[–] anonochronomus@hexbear.net 13 points 9 months ago

The trash education system keeps people too dumb to understand the genius of time cube. 4 CORNERS IN ONE DAY! Unlock time cube. Unlock 96 hour days!

[–] VapeNoir@hexbear.net 27 points 9 months ago

So they just combined horseshoe theory with the political compass. Good job gold stars all around

This is just a reminder to comrades that "corporatism" is a specific political term that doesn't mean the same thing as "corporatocracy" (itself a dubious term) but that it's best not to correct non-comrades when they make this error because why coach an ideological opponent on how to improve their arguments? Let them show their whole ass on the internet by putting their political naiveté on full display like this.

There was an engineer in the early 1900s who thought he solved capitalism, he made a whole ass system called Social Credit - this was in response to the manifest failures of capitalism but refusal to take any of Marxism seriously prima facie.

It never went very far, except in my home province of Alberta which seems to be the playground of whatever stupid ass ideas the national bourgeoisie (instead of international big bourgeoisie) think is neat at the moment.

Political Compass implies a Political Vector Field of Political Magnetism

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 15 points 9 months ago

Neither left nor right, but north!

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 15 points 9 months ago

This is so fucking philistine that it doesn't even know the neoliberal definition of "neoliberal" because it still puts it in opposition to neoconservative when neocons are a type of neoliberal. Also muh wokies being more "Socialist" than the communists, but that's low-hanging fruit

[–] ilyenkov@hexbear.net 14 points 9 months ago

I like that they managed to combine the political compass with horseshoe theory

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 14 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

[–] Des@hexbear.net 13 points 9 months ago

Real question: Is there a name for this sort of thing?

Like, my dad was the kind of guy who would draw these types of diagrams (like in the op) where he saw false symmetries based on nothing. Then he would see them with a profundity that only he really felt, and anyone he showed them would just kind of humor him. They usually were pretty shallow connections that revealed more about his own biases than the world.

It isn't quite the same diagraming I've seen with people I've know with schizophrenia, mainly because it's way less specific. But it shares a vibe.

I see this stuff a bunch. And just wonder if there's a jargon for it.
